Lower division games are not "sanctioned" whatever that is? They dont count. They are a wasted date with regard to playoff consideration. Wins against charter members of BCS conference do count however, and this game against Lafayette is a counter.

NDSU did not "force" MSU to do anything.

It certainly was Montana State.

Most Bison fans selectively remember it as being Montana, though, what with their axes to grind, and everything. :coffee:

I swear most people on CS have no clue about PL football. FYI, the PL is 3-1 all time against the Valley in the playoffs.

NDSU will likely beat Lafayette but don't believe for a second that the 'Pards are another St. Francis. They've been a very good program the last 7 years and have a lot of talent. Last year the bottom fell because of youth. If you look at their schedule most of games were very close. Don't expect a 2-9 bottom dweller to roll into Fargo.

They announced the DI move prior to the 2003 season, so it wasn't the DII team thing. They never had a home and home signed, so Montana didn't backout, just didn't sign to play in Fargo.

Announced or not, at the time, NDSU was D-II. It definitely played a part. Gil, are you coming to the Zoo in 2015?

Most of these people on CS are from the obscure "western" schools. They dont have much idea about anything outside of their "one-horse" towns and of course screaming eagles "Drs office"! I guess you can get a shave, haircut, some doctoring and undertaking services at his barber shop!

Lafayette has a fine football tradition, unfortunately they stumbled a bit last season. This has the makings of a very good game. I'm a BISON fan and Im thinking a good "Augi like" team, respective to the division. (BISON fans know what that means.) Maybe even "Mankato" on a good year. I dont rule out the fact they may be as good as Robert Morris.

I think NDSU has the better football team for this match-up but I dont think for a Minute the Leopards are any kind of a pushover. This is no unsanctioned or none-counter D2 or NAIA transitional team coming in. (I dont believe the NCAA "sanctions" games, thats the WWWF).

The Leopards have earned their stripes and have the football tradition to prove it.

For whatever reason there's very few PL supporters on CS. For that reason the PL seems to get beat on pretty good over here. I had to come to its rescue even if it was to save the 'Pards. Lafayette would likely be a middle of the pack MVC team this year.

Lehigh and Colgate have been the face of the league for the last 15-20 years. When those two are down the perception seems to be the league is down. Lehigh's awakening from a four year slumber seems to have restored some credibility to the league based on their preseason ranking in most polls. Their playoff win in the UNI Dome certaintly didn't hurt either.

Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette could all be very viable teams this year. In fact i think it's quite possible Lehigh and Colgate both make the playoffs this year. The Raiders are going to be darn good assuming Eachus doesn't wear down. The league would have had two teams in '09 if Lehigh hadn't upset Lafayette. The Pards finished the year 8-3 and just out of the playoffs.

Eh, pretty much every league is shit on nowadays. CAA fans are above everyone. MFVC (NDSU) fans are above everyone other than the CAA. etc. The PL probably gets less sh#t than the Big Fluffy even.

Excellent post! Right in line with the points Ive been making about this game and Lafayette. Its a matchup between two good good teams from good leagues that are hoping to realize their upward potential. Lehigh certainly did that at UNI last year. The difference between UNI and NDSU fans is this: we dont expect a win over Lafayette to the point of indifference, we expect a challenging football game that will take all we have to get the win. It should be a good game to watch and a fun game to play.

Some fans in the MVFC have the same problem as the PL, both leagues are more than 1 or two teams. Lafayette and the PL get respect on this thread. A loss to Lehigh would not have been met with indifference and we forgot to show up talk. It would have recognized what happened in the game, what Lehigh did to win.
