NDSU, as well as SDSU and USD have long histories with UNI. In the early days Iowa State Teachers College. NDSU has 18 victories over UNI that I know of. There could be more.

Get with the program Moriarty.

Not to derail this message string, but I assume you are talking about the U of Sioux Falls who is moving from NAIA to Div II next season. We play them our first home game this season. Just how good are those guys?

After looking at their record the last few years, we were kidding our assistant AD, who does most of the scheduling, that he needed lessons in how to schedule Div II "cupcakes". :)

USF is a damn good NAIA school. Likely will be a D2 power pretty quickly as well.

I intend to prove, without calling anyone a retard, that NDSU/UNI is a rivalry.

Although UNI holds the edge in victories The NDSU BISON have been the dominate squad.

UNI had most of its success in the 1940s & 50s. That is too long ago to matter. In the "what-have-you-done-for-me-lately" category The BISON are looking good indeed My Good Man!

The last win was 1982 when UNI was presumably D1-AA and NDSU D2. We didnt play again until 2008.

NDSU has the largest margin of victory at 58 in a 58-0 route in 1977.

NDSU has the longest winning streak at 7.

NDSU has scored over 50 once, UNI never.

NDSU has scored between 40-50 4 times, UNI once.

In modern times, say from 1967 through today NDSU leads the series 11-5. Im not sure what the record is since Captn'Cat was born.

So in conclusion I say NDSU and UNI are rivals from the old NCC days and now in the MVFC. Its not the important, national scope event like say the Border Marker with NDSU and SDSU. It might not even rise to an NDSU/USD level. These are the most important football games in the Dakotas, always of national interest as well. They are also the largest sporting events to ever happen in the Dakota Territories. But it is a rivalry, although not as important as UNI fans think.

In the "what have you done for me recently" - or as i call it "what have you done since the oldest player on your team was born" UNI is 3-0

If its what is the longest prison term NDSU is 11-5!

Case closed. NDSU and UNI are rivals. Its lucky for UNI to have an annual game with such a prestigious program!

In the same post, you say that it is about "what have you done lately" but also admit that NDSU has not beaten UNI in nearly THIRTY YEARS. LOL

In the same post, you argue that NDSU has been the "dominant team", even though NDSU trails the series by 6 games. LOL

UNI--- 10-1 against all division 1 Dakota schools.

Not a rivalry. You guys are not even our peers yet. :coffee:

And what does your 3 years (is it 2,3 or 4) being a FCS program make you prestigious? I can think of many programs that are more prestigious than NDSU.

I could not agree with you more my Montanan friend. I would have to think that anyone in the fcs universe outside of "bisonville" has to hate NDSU because of the old jabber. What a complete blowhard.

NDSU has, on the grid iron, defeated BCS conference charter members Minnesota and Kansas. They defeated MAC conference champion Central Michigan, perennial MAC contender Ball State. The BISON sold-out Jack Trice stadium. They have gone to the semifinals in the FCS playoffs. The BISON are undefeated at home in FCS play off games. They have posted a superb won/loss record in intra-divisional play. In addition they bring an unrivaled football tradition to any contest.

UNI is fortunate to have a storied program like the NDSU BISON on their schedule. But please, that is for them to savour and this rivalry is not the stuff of legend. Its a minor thing compared to the Dakota Big 3: NDSU, SDSU and USD. I for one am more interested in hearing about more important rivals and rivalry games than UNI.

They were a dominate force in the NAIA. Its unclear how the scholarship situation in D2 will affect the program. They have also seen some coaching changes. I believe their head coach is now an FCS assistant. You have to remember UND has a terrible football program. Beating UND, even for an NAIA program, is not really a measure of how they would compare to a average or typical FCS team. McNeese should be fine.

1. The Semi's....

2. Pretty easy to be undefeated at home in the playoffs when you've only had one game against Robert Morris... Also, you should be embarrassed you when you still don't get home games with a 18K stadium and decent attendance figures.

3. jbb :ohno:

The next 2 games were against seeded teams. The home game automatically goes to the higher seed.

W & M and UR have been playing each other since 1898, which I believe is the longest rivalry in the South.
