I thought we averaged more fans that UD last season.
I think you're right. Do you have the list of all FCS schools?
This is a serious question, no trash talk behind it but I thought attendance at UDel football games was declining over the last several years? I thought I also heard that the football program wasn't getting that much support financially as well?
Yeah. We're building a platform for the band which clears up ~500 seats. Gotta keep up with demand.
oh okay, where did you read that? just wondering. That move makes sense since moving the band to a different location doesn't require that much space. I assume they are being moved to under the scoreboard?
I was also at alumni tailgate this past friday and was able to go on a tour of foreman field and the guy who conducted the tour said they are also adding another couple rows of seats in the gameday facility.
And we're expanding Ballard Stadium by 500 to over 20,000 this year.
Why thank you.

VCU, as previously mentioned, has also been reprimanded for their steep tuition increases. I don't think the fan support is there, either. Also, football in Virginia is running the risk of being overwhelming. I think in 5 years the state will have five FBS teams (UVA, VaTech, ODU, JMU, Liberty) ... That is certainly more than enough schools for one state (and I do think Va can support more than the 2 it currently has) ... but if VCU or Mason were to add football now, they would be eyeing a move-up with CAA brethren JMU and ODU ... and I simply do not think the state can support 6/7 FBS schools. I have to think VCU and Mason are considering that ... in addition to the extraordinary costs of starting a team, adding female sports schollys to comply with Title 9 and build / renovate the right facilities. Just don't see it.
I hear you, but when you say JMU and ODU will eventually turn FBS, we will have to join an FBS league, what league whould that be in your opinion. I think if the CAA's northern schools defect, we may be playing our football in the SoCon as FCS teams. There are no immediate plans to turn FBS in the near future.

It's been said a few times on CAAzone now. Don't remember which threads but I can find them if you want.
My assumption is that they build the platform to the area on the left of this pic:
And grizalltheway, our band takes up a lot of space for some reason. See the bottom right of this pic where there's an empty space in the stands. That's roughly 500 seats.
you might be right about them moving the band to the left of the endzone bleachers. A lot more space compared to the other side where the scoreboard is.

Yup, that's the downside of hosting playoff games. The average attendance drops for the playoffs, at UD much like every other school in FCS. Regardless, we prefer to host playoffs games rather than to play them elsewhere. Despite the negative aspect that this might have on our overall position on the average attendance list, we enjoyed the opportunity to host 3 playoff games this past fall.
If you guys do the math, you'll notice that for our 7 regular season home games, we averaged 20,710.
You'll figure out how this all works out as things move along...

We'd sell out our playoff games.
Our administration and coaches are committed to the FCS. In fact, Coach Wilder is a huge fan of Montana and in his speeches to our fans, he wants us to become the Montana of the East Coast. I have enough faith in the people running the show and our fans that I have no doubt we'll reach those levels. We're not here to play in the CAA...we're here to dominate. All it's going to take is our patience, but we know that time only nears in every passing day. For now we'll simply enjoy the ride. If we're gonna be in the FCS, we're gonna do it right.

So you've figured out the first-round attendance mystery that just about no other school has ever been able to figure out, and you haven't even played in a single playoff game yet?!?! B R I L L I A N T ! ! !
