Yup, the Phils are putting down the pedal a bit now with the whole lineup back together. Utley is showing what a difference he makes in that lineup, and Victorino has always been underappreciated. Of course, all of it matters little since the pitching staff is so dominant. Doesn't mean they'll win in the Fall, but it does mean it should be a very smooth ride to the division title.Ivytalk wrote:What a great game! Victorino's hit ties it with 2 outs in the 9th, and Chooch wins it in the 10th. Real playoff atmosphere!
That was the second straight time I attended a game where they announced the attendance as the biggest regular-season crowd in stadium history. The first was Utley's injury-comeback game against the Reds.

and the Pennant. I think the Phillies will be the team coming out of the National League. Just something about the Giants I will never be sold on.GannonFan wrote:Yup, the Phils are putting down the pedal a bit now with the whole lineup back together. Phils up 2-0 after 5. Lee mowing 'em down and has RBI double. Howard hit # 15.

Re: Phillies Parade
The Giants weren't great last year, but they have the great pitching and once October came around an anemic offense suddenly turned clutch. That's the roll of the dice with the baseball playoffs. If the Giants get to the playoffs again, the Phillies will be favored but it all comes down to who hits enough in a pitching-dominated series. Same with the Braves too (those three teams are the top 3 ERA teams in all of baseball right now). I'm not sure anyone in the Central's going to be good enough, especially pitching-wise, to get through.ODUalum11 wrote:and the Pennant. Lee only allowing 3 baserunners - one on a hit and two on walks. Very efficient today.Ivytalk wrote:Phils up 2-0 after 5. Lee mowing 'em down and has RBI double. Howard hit # 15.

Looks like Lee had another impressive start. A 2-hitter? Not sure who I'd want to win one game...Beckett, Verlander, or Lee.

He's not even the first or second best starter the Phils have either.ODUalum11 wrote:Looks like Lee had another impressive start. A 2-hitter? Not sure who I'd want to win one game...Beckett, Verlander, or Lee.

Agreed - Lee is clearly the #3 guy on this staff, even with his very nice and tidy game today.93henfan wrote:He's not even the first or second best starter the Phils have either.ODUalum11 wrote:Looks like Lee had another impressive start. No. That never happened. Joltin' Joe told us so. He also proved beyond a reasonable doubt that all the people rioting in Vancouver last night were actually Flyers fans dressed in Canucks attire.ODUalum11 wrote:Still pissed he turned down the Yankees.GannonFan wrote:

Yeah, I forgot to say I'm pissed at the Mariners also. That deal was all done with and at the very last minute pulled out of the deal because they were concerned about one of the yankee prospects included in the deal who had an ankle sprain.Grizalltheway wrote:YOU'RE pissed?? Actually it was Cliff Lee that said it never happened, but for some reason you insist that he's a dirty liar.93henfan wrote:No. That never happened. Joltin' Joe told us so. Cliff Lee says the story that Yankees fans spit on his wife and threw beer at her were blown way out of proportion. He says it never happened.

Re: Phillies Parade
Face it Joe, whether a drop of expacteration hit her or not (and maybe Cliff is just trying to be nice to you guys, I mean, he probably feels bad for not taking all that extra money the Yanks wanted to give him) New York fans treated his wife like sh*t and that was the major reason (along with just loving the atmosphere and the city of Philadelphia) that Cliff turned down the money to sign with the Phils. Don't treat her like sh*t, and Lee might have gone to the Bronx. Too bad.JoltinJoe wrote:Actually it was Cliff Lee that said it never happened, but for some reason you insist that he's a dirty liar.93henfan wrote:

Phils will be facing the Mariners' two best pitchers this weekend: Pineida and Felix. It will be a good road test for their newly rejuvenated offense.
I wonder whether the Seattle stands will be a "sea of red," like when we play the Nats on the road.
