That said, I'm not thrilled with the idea of EITHER Houston to the AL OR Seattle losing ANOTHER team, particularly to the OKC. If baseball moves anywhere in the midwest (other than where they already are), going to Rosenblatt (or its successor) would be a better choice than OKC.
Rosenblatt is closed - and was NO WHERE close to MLB seating. It only held 23K for baseball...you will never convince an MLB team to play in a stadium that sized.

The new park, TDAmeritrade, only seats 22-24K. From the Omaha World Herald
The Cornhuskers defeated the Bluejays by a score of 2-1, In front of a paid attendance of just over 22,000 (A sellout) and a scanned attendance of just over 18,000, making it the most attended game of the collegiate season
It would be a nice AAA facility, but not even close to MLB.

Oh, and there is the fact that Omaha would never...I mean fucking never....support an MLB team.

You really shock me every fucking day with how stupid/clueless you really fucking are.

I was making a comparison to OKC, clenz. I never seriously considered that ANY place in that area was worth MLB time/effort.

What a doof.

I found it kinda cheesy that in an otherwise decent article, they just HAD to cram multiple Kardashian references in there.

oh I know, just can't believe they'd actually mention it though. I like the Astros to the AL West idea the most. It's the most logical move and simple.

Agreed.

Personally, though, I'd like to see the Brewers back in the AL. After reading the article, though, if they move a team, it would almost have to be Houston unless there were to be a bunch of other maneuvering. There are way too many teams to just steamroll the divisions. About the only other option that I can see is another round of expansion (to 32), perhaps with four four-team divisions in each league. The obvious problem with that is the further watering down of an already poor product.

Anyways, I like 3 divisions per league better, anyway. Why not just add a wild card in each league, have the wild cards play off in a best of 3 (or 5) for the "privilege" of playing the #1 seed in the divisional round?

I think the biggest concern against playoff expansion is the weather in October, I think thats why we havent seen playoff expansion yet and probably won't see it for a while. Also the season is 162 games long so I think that is a long enough season to determine who truly belongs in the playoffs and who doesn't.

There's been talk of reverting to 154. I don't know if there's enough support for that, but it's been discussed.

The adding of a second wildcard is pretty much guaranteed. And its likely the two wildcards will play a 1 game playoff to earn the privilege of playing the #1 seed. a 3 or 5 game series leaves the #1 seed sitting around too long and creates a disadvantage for that team.

its has very limtied support because owners arent willing to give up 4 games of revenue each season especially with payrolls continuing to expand... If a salary cap could be implemented than perhaps a reduction in the schedule would be possible.

MLB is taking a good look at scheduled doubleheaders though to help shorten the season on calendar days while maintaining the 162 game schedule.

I do like the idea of the 3-game playoff series if it were ever to go to 5-6 teams.

expanding the playoffs has less to do with making sure deserving teams are in and more to do with better guaranteeing meaningful baseball in the last couple weeks of the season.

the chances of the expanded playoffs having anything other than a 1 game WC vs WC series is probably 2% a 3 game series means a #1 seed is sitting for 4 or 5 days before they begin their playoffs.... and theres no way teams are going to vote to approve that.

Thats one thing you can rely on in baseball, unless if a team has a huge lead in the division or wild card you never really see any teams coasting into the playoffs. Also in the last couple years it seems as if the division races have been a lot better.

While I would dearly love to bring back the traditional scheduled Sunday doubleheader, I've been given to believe that the owners will refuse that since they can't exactly kick everyone out of the stands so they can collect another admission fee.

I believe they'd also have to clean the stadium as well.

Yup - that is why they would do Day-Night double headers - 12 or 1 for first game, over by 4. Clean the park, open gates at 5:30 for 7:10 game.

yup. Of course teams like say Florida who may only average 9,000 a game could offer a 2 games for 1 ticket deal in hopes of selling more tickets for the doubleheader than they would for two separate admission games

They really don't have a choice with the rain-out DHs. They might affect the pennant race. Of course, at the end of the season, if a rain-out involves two teams who are out of it just might blow it off.
