We shouldn't lose to Guadaloupe... but, it isn't out of the question. Their team is full of professionals in the French league... they have talent. They played well against Panama and Canada... just went down to 10-men in both games. Lost 3-2 to Panama and 1-0 to Canada.

Gold Cup: Five Mexico players test positive for banned substance

Starters Ochoa, Rodríguez, Sinha among those suspended for taking clenbuterol

Five players on Mexico’s Gold Cup squad have tested positive for a banned substance and will be removed from the roster, Mexican Soccer Federation general secretary Decio de María confirmed in a press conference on Thursday.

Starting goalie Guillermo Ochoa and first-choice center back Francisco Rodríguez are two of the players who tested positive for clenbuterol, a substance used to treat breathing disorders and that is also used on animals to produce lean meat.

The three other players to test positive were Antonio Naelson “Sinha”, Christián Bermúdez and Édgar Dueñas, none of whom started in El Tri’s 5-0 rout of El Salvador on Sunday.

All 5 players passed their second tests at UCLA.

The second test undergone by the quintet of Mexico national team players who tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol has come back negative, the Mexican Soccer Federation announced on Tuesday.

“Today, the Laboratory of UCLA has informed us that the tests carried out on June 10 on the five players … have come back negative,” said the press release.

Guillermo Ochoa (pictured above), Francisco Javier Rodríguez, Antonio Naelson “Sinha”, Edgar Dueñas, and Christian Bermúdez all underwent a second test on June 10 in a hotel in Los Angeles. The samples were then analyzed in the laboratories of UCLA, who confirmed the five players are clean.

FIFA gives green light to add five; FMF awaits official paperwork

FIFA has given CONCACAF the green light to allow Mexico to replace the five players who were separated from the Gold Cup squad last week after a test for banned substances conducted by the Mexican Soccer Federation on May 21 came back positive.

According to a statements from FIFA general secretary Jérôme Valcke in a press conference in Mexico, the substitution of Guillermo Ochoa, Francisco Rodríguez, Antonio Naelson “Sinha,” Edgar Dueñas and Christian Bermúdez on the squad remains at the hands of the FMF, but the organization is permitted to do so.

Panamanians go 5-for-5 in penalties to set up US rematch

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Panama advanced to the Gold Cup semifinal thanks to a 5-4 penalty kick shootout win over El Salvador Sunday evening.

A dramatic and controversial equalizer by Panama’s Luis Tejada in the game’s dying minutes canceled out Rodolfo Zelaya’s penalty kick in front of a crowd of 45,423 at RFK Stadium. The two sides drew 1-1 after 120 minutes.
