Take A Minute To Defeat Jeter

Post by UNHWildCats »

Everyone should go to MLB.com and cast ballots for the MLB all star game and vote for someone other than Derek Jeter, preferably Asdrubal Cabrera who sits about 400,000 behind Jeter. Cabrera is also the most deserving of the spot, and Jeter is in no way deserving of even a backup role.

While at it you should also help Alex Avila who is more deserving of the spot than Russell Martin, though this race isnt quite as lopsided.

Do the right thing and vote for a first-ballot Hall of Famer who is about to become the third or fourth youngest player to get 3,000 hits.

Just submitted my vote for Jeter and Martin.

Anyone else you suggest we should vote for?

So just because he is going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer that means he should be an all star even though he no longer plays at an all star level?

Yes. In those in cases in which a player's career achievements are so notable, he deserves to be an all star every year, the way when I was a kid than guys like Mantle and Mays were invited every year, even in their last and less notable seasons. Or even more recently with Cal Ripken.

A player like Jeter has achieved "all-time great" status. Better to vote for him than a guy like Cabrera whose claim is based on having 87 hits in half of this season -- and is no sure thing to finish the season as well as he started it.

Yankees are probably gonna have Jeter, A-Rod, Cano, Tex., Granderson, Mo, and possibly CC to the All-Star game. :thumb:

Sweet, you can vote 25 times! I'm definitely voting for Jeter and Martin 25 times, but before I throw the rest of my votes away for other positions, any other players I should vote for?

Before I vote again, how does the site know how many times you voted?
username? If so I'll just create a few dozen and submit all my votes to Jeter/Martin
IP Address? If so, I've got 6 computers at home/work, so I'll submit all my votes to Jeter/Martin

Sorry, but Tex isnt getting into the All Star game this year.... He's having a fine season but Gonzalez will start and Miguel Cabrera is in based on his average and OBP advantage over Tex and Paul Konerko bests Tex in all but HRs and hes only 1 behind there.

Turns out it's e-mail, birthdate and zip code. Good thing I've got plenty of e-mail addresses as well, so I can fudge around here also.

Never thought I'd vote for so many Yankees, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get some results...

And I voted for Ibanez and Pagan in the outfield for the NL, just because :thumb:

Martin
Upton
Ibanez
Texiera
Pagan
Anyone else?

I've voted 3 times now under 3 e-mail addresses. Have a few more e-mail addresses to go. Gonna have to start voting multiple times a day though under each address if you want to get all 25 votes in before the deadline. But I think I can do this....

Don't you fucking know anything Travis? It's not about the BEST players in the ASG. It's about the fans voting for who THEY wanna see. :ohno:

I do not disagree with the premise, and I agree that is what is should be about. But if that is the case, people absolutely need to stop bringing up all star game appearances when arguing hall of fame credentials, like they do now.

Yeah all star game appearances don't mean shit if you ask me. It's just a popularity contest. Always thought it was stupid that the winner gets home field in the World Series too. That should be determined on the team with the better record going in...or the team that has lost fewer games in the post season.

Just a desperate attempt by Selig and Fox to get people to care about it.

Absolutely. Probably the single most retarded thing going on in baseball right now, and that is saying something.

I think I'm gonna have to go for Scutaro, if only to tick off everyone here (except possibly for UNH).

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
