JBB wrote:Direct word from the NDSU Ticket Office has season ticket sales closing in on 9,500. That almost guarantees a sell-out for this game. The first game is alwasy pretty well attended. With at least half the stadium in the hands of season ticket holders a sell-out now seems likely.

Season tickets are on sale now. Single game tickets will go on sale August 1.
For as big as the NDSU fanbase is your season ticket sales are pretty weak compared to what I thought they would be.

Hell, UNI (who has 2 BCS conference teams within 90-95 miles of the stadium, one that draws 70k+ every week, plus thousands more to party, and the other drawing about 50k each week) has about 7 or 8k season ticket holders

I'm surprised how week the UNI season ticket sales are with 15 conference titles in 25 years. :kisswink:

Its worse than that Gil. When it comes to attendance in the MVFC there are only two programs worth mention: NDSU and YSU. The rest are mostly Big Sky level.

NDSU is of course the biggest program in the MVFC and #10 in the country, but YSU isnt far behind. In fact NDSU is probably the only school that will outbid Montana for home playoff hosting.

I think Clenz would be more comfortable bragging about cash paying fans but if he gets comfort from the mythical "outside crowd" thats fine with me! For all the talk they sure don't have the numbers or the bidding power when it comes to the playoffs!

If NDSU has a good year this year we could unseat Delaware in the #5 spot in national attendance but thats as high as we can go. After that it takes more seats than we have.

Im guessing season ticket sales could approach 12,000 this year. We are ahead of last season and we finished with just under 10,000. Those were all cash customers too, not the milling crowds of thousands outside the arena refusing to support the team!

When season ticket sales get around 75% of capacity the far-seeing planners will start thinking about a new stadium.

YSU lies out their ass when it comes to attendance.

I posted this on a thread during the football season, but here is a photo from the YSU/UNI game. They announced the attendance of that game at over 13K.

At best there was 7K there.

When UNI was there in 2008 they announced the attendance at something like 20K, yet anyone who was there estimates 5K tops.

NDSU does the same thing. "sellout" crowd against UNI two years ago was about 65% capacity. :coffee:

Then when do they list it as "attendance" not "tickets sold".

Two very different numbers it would seem.

I can also promise you NDSU has never completely sold out the stadium...nor has UNI, SIU, Montana, Delaware, App State, Michigan, Texas, Florida.......for reasons you will never believe, and I don't want to explain no school has ever "sold out" their stadium.

Still wrong. Attendance, no matter what word you put in front of it, is people actually IN ATTENDANCE.

I'm pretty sure every school goes by how many tickets they sold. Does UNI have someone there to count every person in the stands one by one? :?

Something the Leopards are going to have to prepare for is the powerful running game NDSU is going to deploy.

DJ McNorton is certainly one of the nations top running backs, maybe #1? What makes that stat so significant is the fact that DJ is only one element. Here is a little more information on NDSUs top running back:

North Dakota State University running back D.J. McNorton and cornerback Marcus Williams were honorable mention on the 2011 Consensus Draft Services Preseason Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America team.

McNorton, a 5-foot-10, 204-pound senior from Channelview, Texas (Channelview H.S.) rushed 280 times for 1,559 yards and 15 TDs. He ranked 14th in the final NCAA Division I FCS rushing statistics averaging 111.36 yards per game. McNorton

McNorton accounted for 2,019 all-purpose yards including 433 receiving yards and four TDs on 25 receptions. He added 27 yards on kickoff returns to rank 18th nationally averaging 144.2 yards per game. McNorton ranked 15th nationally in scoring (8.14 ppg).

NDSU may not have to throw the ball at all? A perfect rushing day is a convincing win say 27-12 or something when the winning team doesnt throw a pass. Thats long drives, on the ground, lots of 3rd and short and some big gains.

I have yet to go to a D1 game that the ticket takers didn't have scanners....those scanners do amazing things like tell the ticket office what tickets have and haven't been used, which scanner scanned them, what time they were scanned....and even that amazingly hard thing for something that technologic to do...keep track of how many they scanned.

BULL__ that game was packed to the radters, everyone tailgated, then hit up the game. unlike the LAFAYETTE game, where we will tailgate, then go watch first quarter, then back to tailgate when its 21-0

If by "packed to the radters" you mean thousands of empty seats, then yes.

NDSU is the #1 program in the MVFC. It is the most watched program in the MVFC. It is the richest program in the MVFC. It is also the premier ambassador for the MVFC and games like the Lafayette game will help all conference members.

At this point it appears this game is a guaranteed sellout. This is going to be the largest crowd the Leopards will play for this season. It could have an affect on them and make the NDSU BISON Challenge even greater. I think the "12th man" will be on display for this game.

Here is the first game ever played at the Fabulous Fargo Dome. It featured Pittsburgh State. NDSU and Pittsburgh State played a classic series of games during that time period. The BISON were ranked #1 in the country and Pit State was #2. It was a big game.

Thanks to CABison for posting this.

Obviously the game was a sellout just like the UNI game last year as so many others.

So the #1 program in MVFC, it's premier amassador, didn't win it's conference and barely squeeked into the playoffs for the first time last season? Man the MVFC must be down.

Good thing we did not invite UND to the conference last year, otherwise NDSU would be the #2 program in the MVFC.

The crowd, the atmosphere and the scope of the event at the Fabulous Fargo Dome is something the Leopards are going to have to learn to deal with if they are going to be successful in this game.

NDSU is the largest program in the MVFC, larger than UNI, SIU, WIU, Youngstown State, larger than all of them. NDSU is a program with national scope that averages more than most schools in the MVFC can even seat.

I know UNI has thousands upon thousands of non-paying fans milling about their stadium on game day, but thats not really a big deal. NDSU has thousands upon thousands upon thousands milling about their stadium too, but there are only 9 other FCS programs in the country that get more paying customers than the BISON. None of them from the MVFC.
