At this point it appears this game is a guaranteed sellout. This is going to be the largest crowd the Leopards will play for this season. It could have an affect on them and make the NDSU BISON Challenge even greater. I think the "12th man" will be on display for this game.

Here is the first game ever played at the Fabulous Fargo Dome. It featured Pittsburgh State. NDSU and Pittsburgh State played a classic series of games during that time period. The BISON were ranked #1 in the country and Pit State was #2. It was a big game.

Thanks to CABison for posting this.

Obviously the game was a sellout just like the UNI game last year as so many others.
  You are just fishing for a response for anyone to argue with you.

You my friend are wrong. Im setting the record straight for misinformation being presented by some posters.

Any thoughts on this game or just your usual?

I'll start commenting on this game by the time fall camp starts and we are a bit closer to the game rather than in June...the outlook will be much more accurate then since we will know more about where our team will stand   Plus, I don't really know why we have to have a full thread devoted to our season opener on a national forum...go talk about this game on bisonvi...oh wait.

This game pits an East Coast team with a strong football tradition against a central plains team with a stong football tradition. Both teams are potential playoff participants. NDSU is a top 10 team nationally. Lafayette is rebuilding. The polls are going to react to the outcome of this game. There is a good chance the score will be announced at all FCS football games.

Now I understand why residents of Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, all tell North Dakota jokes. :silly:

Yes, but are you smart enough to understand why North Dakotans all tell Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba jokes? :rimshot:

This game will be of interest to everybody voting in the FCS poll. Its a game of prime importance to the entire landscape of the FCS early season. Its a Big Game.
Its going to be a sell out. I dont know if anybody has bothered to clue you in but its a big deal.

It takes a game of "National Importance" to cause the polls to move. Most games have no influence on the polls at all. You are completely wrong.

Why is it a big game? Other than it will "shake up the polls" and it'll sell out (which I'm not arguing. there will be 18,700+ there) but Lafayette was 2-9 last year. Why is this big? :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:

the first two reasons are certainly big enough. Lets revue:

1) It's a game of interest on the national scale. NDSU BISON are
The National Polls wrote:"Top 10"
. Its the same for all Top 10 teams. All of their games will be games of national interest.

2) Attendance will be in the top 5 nation wide. Maybe the biggest FCS game in the country from that standpoint? All of the programs in that club are going to have games of "national interest".

3) Lafayette comes from a good football tradition. They have been a traditional force in the PL from the hotbed of FCS football, "back east".

4) There is going to be intense interest among BISON fans as speculation about this years squad starts to gain some momentum. What are we 68 days out or something?

Its all there my friend. Its a big game.

Dont let the manic fans lull you to sleep. Lots of bison fans are talking 45-0 or something and it could be. Who knows? But if it isnt and its a hard fought 21-17 or something they will be the same ones imploding. Expect something closer to hard fought.

Understandably the Leopards are the underdogs but they know the game. The BISON have to be ready with a good game plan, well rehearsed schemes and clear communications between the sideline coaches and the field. The better they do in each of those phases will better determine the final out come.

Every game that involves the top 25. And since I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 teams are receiving votes each week, you're looking at games involving somewhere between 40-80 teams each week. So, no I'm not

No. Top 10 are of national interest. The rest are of "passing interest" to those "in the know". The good match-ups from the bottom 15 can get them the "eye of the nation".

With as few schollies as they have a hard fought game isn't going to be a good sign for NDSu. :ohno:

The Lafayette football program finds itself in some unfamiliar territory, coming off an uncharacteristic 2-9 campaign. The Leopards had their streak of six straight seasons with a winning record and a Top 25 national ranking snapped following 2010 in what the team is out to prove was an aberration.
They are brining back 8 starters on both offense and defense. They are a senior led team with a very good senior QB Ryan O'Neil.
The Leopards have 37 letterwinners coming back while losing just 11 to graduation

Here is a good look at their recruiting this season. It might help some of you understand the game a little better.
EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette football has signed 28 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the Class of 2015.

ov. 23, 2010
EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette placed nine student-athletes on the All-Patriot League Football Teams announced on Tuesday. The Leopards have three first-team selections and six second-team honorees with six players on offense and three on defense

If you don't beat a non scholarship team by 35 points you embarrass the entire FCS.
