Springfield, MO isn't really that close to the Missouri River. Aren't they about 200 miles from it?

If nothing else they are stealing the Northern Arkansas inbred fanbase that doesn't follow the Razorbacks.

Branson Riviera is fairly close to Springfield.

Rumors are that ODU has been contacted as well according to Craig Pearson's twitter. Take notice that I said RUMOR.

...I also notice it's someone from MSU who posted this tweet. :?

You're in D1 now, JaBBer, we don't whine about the officiating.

Especially when we have our opponent pinned inside their 10 yard line with 2 minutes left and a trip to the NC on the line. :ohno: How do you let smaller, less physical, team do that to you?
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

Football doesn't have to "go" anywhere

THE Missouri Valley Conference and THE Missouri Valley Football Conference are un-related.

Completely seperate and unrelated conferences. There are only 5 schools with dual membership, the rest of 'em are affiliated with one conference or the other but not both.

If they do leave, AND it isn't to move football "up" to the lowest levels of FBS it is a mistake of epic proportions.

Other than Villinova and G'Town the MVC for all sports not named football would be a step up for just about every FCS football school.

Look at this realisticaly. There are really only 4 options as far as getting a foot in the door with FBS football.

WAC, sunjoke, MAC, and perhaps CUSA would entertain the idea of an FCS program moving up, but I doubt it.

All 4 are a step backwards in about every other sport other than the falsely perceived notion that the lowest levels of FBS are better than the highest levels of FCS.

There isn't an AD at an FCS program in the country that wouldn't let me and the good cap'n have a tag team on his 18YO virgin daughter if it meant the ability to move his entire athletic program to the MVC.

A LEAGUE is a lot more than sports. Look at the other schools associated with the CUSA. Their endowment numbers and prestige BLOW AWAY the MVC.

CUSA would be a lateral move from the MVC in every other sport, except for baseball where it would be a huge step up.

The endowment numbers in the MVC blow MSU way.

Maybe all of you MSU fans should just stop talking about this whole thing, as nearly all of you are making fools of yourselves. A ton of ignorance, and misinformation has been continually spewed out by MSU fans.

I'll remember this thread in a few years when UNI is forced to drop to D2 because they lose so much money and MSU is moving to FBS.

If I didn't have people VERY close to the situation telling me what was going on, I wouldn't be fueling this. But whatever, believe what ya want!

Meanwhile, here in the real world...

MSU is facing its own massive financial issues. Documented here--http://www.missouristate.edu/jqharenata ... ponses.htm

Also, regarding that endowment thing you were boasting about earlier, MSU ranks near the bottom of the MVC with their current endowment numbers. Only a few hundred million dollars short of the top of the MVC...

Not to mention that MSU has been the laughing stock of the MVFC for much of the last 25 years, consistently ranking near the bottom of the standings both in W/L and in attendance. Do you not yet understand that this would be a football move? Football is the ONLY reason a school would even think about making such a move.

But your probably right and everybody else with sense is probably wrong. MSU is FBS bound. I see Rose Bowls, and Final Fours in your future. :thumb:

When the f have we ever been "near the bottom" in attendance?

With how ****ty the program has been, averaging near 10k a game is pretty damn good, if you ask me.

Haters be hating, but whatever.

Regular season attendance for MVFC teams last season

NDSU - 15,900
YSU - 15,100
UNI - 14,400
WIU - 11,100
SIU - 10,900
SDSU - 10,000
MSU - 9,000
ISUR - 7,000
ISUB - 5,500

Oh shit...that puts MSU in the bottom 1/3 of total attendance per game last season. Looks like you were near the bottom in attendance. Keep in mind SIU had the worst season in a decade and fans didn't show up and still put up about 2k more per game than you. YSU was terrible last season and was still second in tearms of tickets sold/attendance.

Let's try to put a positive spin on this for MSU. Let's try it by % of stadium filled, maybe that will be better.

UNI - 88%
NDSU - 82%
YSU - 73%
SIU - 71%
WIU - 68%
SDSU - 67%
MSU - 55%
ISUR - 47%
ISUB - 43%

Well shit...that didn't help them either.

I don't have time right now, but I'd love to do the same for previous years to see if it is the same result.

Okay, I did the average attendance for home games between 2006 and 2010. I could have gone further back for most schools, but some only had 2006 and newer easily available.

Here are the results....guess what MSU....IT IS ACTUALLY WORSE! The only team you outdraw is freaking hapless Indiana State

NDSU - 16,600
YSU - 15,025
UNI - 13,900
SDSU - 10,500
SIU - 10,200
WIU - 10,100
ISUR - 9,500
MSU - 9,300
ISUB - 5,000

What say ye MSUBear42? How do you deny those numbers?

That was immature, sorry. Sad thing is UNI is easily my 2nd favorite MVC school, I grew up in Cedar Rapids.

Didn't realize we were still that down, somehow we are still top 50 so yippee.

That said, the SIU argument is a little unfair, it's not hard to draw big crowds when you are playing your first season in a beautiful new stadium.
