Re: Big South Predictions
My prediction is
Liberty will have tons of hype - lots of fans will show up to this board for about 40 posts each - the team will fail and same as last year

Do you have Coastal going undefeated? I don't see CCU beating LU @ the Bill on homecoming. I also don't see LU losing 2 conference games.SENOREIDA wrote:I was thinking more along the lines ofLibertine wrote:Pain

Re: Big South Predictions
I'm really bullish on this Stony Brook team right now. They return 17 starters from last season's co-championship team and have a number of players either transferring in or coming back from injury that will certainly compete for playing time. With both Liberty and Coastal visiting Long Island this season, I like Stony Brook's chances at the AQ
I also think presbyterian will surprise people.

Re: Big South Predictions
How many kids is Liberty returning?
I think Coastal will be pretty good this year especially without MacDowell at the helm. Hillary or Childers are by far better quarterbacks. My opinion would to run Hillary at quarterback and use Childers as a TE again this year. I believe Hillary is going to do something very special this year.

As usual, 3-7 could be very fluid. You can probably put them all in a hat and randomly pick their order of finish. That seems to be a pretty consistent yearly theme.
By all accounts, LU and SBU are the top two and deserve to be there.
When predicting order of finish, you cannot disregard or underestimate the schedule. For instance, Charleston Southern gets all of the top teams in the conference at home this year. (LU, SBU, CCU) Any time you can get Liberty away from their enormous homefield advantage is in your favor. Stony Brook will have to travel to a much warmer location in Charleston, South Carolina in November when it has already gotten much cooler by that time in NY. Stony's conidtioning will be greatly tested that day if it is warm. No doubt, the Buccaneers will be praying for 80-85 degree temperatures, which are a possibility. The distance to Charleston from Conway is no big deal for Coastal, but Coastal lost the championship in Charleston and if Coastal is not in contention for the championship when they come to Charleston, they could have a flat performance since it will be their last game and they will have already had their Senior Day.
It should be another interesting and exciting season of Big South football.

I have to believe another shoot out with Liberty on Nov 19th. Hope both teams are 100% healthy and we have a clear cut Champion. Unlike last season with point spreads, zodiac symbols and solar winds deciding the outcome. Good Luck to all -looking forward to September

No chance CCU beats Liberty @ Williams Stadium for homecoming.
Stony Brook - CCU and LU @ home is the factor here.
Liberty - Just because - At large though

Re: Big South Predictions
Yes. My bad. And, Charleston Southern has Presbyterian the week after Coastal. My point is still somewhat accurate with Coastal, because the Charleston Southern game will be their last conference game of the season.bjtheflamesfan wrote:CCU has one more game @ Western Carolina after the CSU matchup
I'm still trying to get used to that. This is the first year that the CSU/CCU game will not be each team's last game. I don't like it.
It is a rivalry game. It should be each team's last game.

Re: Big South Predictions
I don't know the exact number of starters returning. But:SENOREIDA wrote:How many kids is Liberty returning?
All of our QBs.
All of our WRs.
All of our RBs.
All of our TEs.
All of our DBs.
All of our OLBs.
Our DTs.
All of our Kickers.
We have to replace our 2 starting MLBs and 4 starting OL. These 2 areas will determine how good we will be. Most of the guys who were listed at starters after the Spring on the OL have been in the system for 2-3 years.
