An ENTIRE Weekend of Conference Championship Shutouts?

Post by SuperHornet »

I NEVER in a million years thought I'd see this....

ALL Conference title games in the IWFL today ended in shutouts, and half were won by the road teams.

In Tier I, the California Quake (Downey) demolished the Wisconsin Warriors 48-0 today to win the Western Conference Championship. In the East, the Atlanta Ravens pulled the home victory 20-0 over the Carolina Phoenix. All four teams were undefeated going into today's action.

In Tier II, the Seattle Majestics defeated the Modesto Maniax 14-0 to win the West. The New England Intensity took down the Chattanooga Locomotion 20-0 on the road to win the East.

This sets up a pair of title games 30 JUL in Round Rock TX:

Tier II North American Championship: Seattle Majestics (6-4) vs. NE Intensity (7-3) 10:00 AM

Tier I World Championship: California Quake (10-0) vs. Atlanta Ravens (10-0) 7:00 PM

Also included in Championship Weekend is the East vs. West All-Star Game at 10:00 AM Sun 31 JUL. I'm VERY happy to report that Sirens Defensice Coordinator Joe Spatafore and kicker Jennifer Bloom, LB Michelle Machado, RB Ashlee Sharp, rookie RB Rachel Gover (Alternate), LB Kisha Harris (Alternate), DL Tamisha Lewis (Alternate), LB Lineni Noa Keil (Alternate), OL Carrie Roninger (Alternate), DB Robin Sanchez (Alternate), and TE Sarah Trobee (Alternate) mate the Western Conference All-Star Team!

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
