Tigers start with Chicago, followed by a couple with Oakland and then to Minnesota. They need to find a fifth starter soon. Coke is back in the bullpen and Furbush got sent to Toledo.

A few Twins players names have been floating around as possible trade bait.
Liriano to the Red Sox
Cuddyer is a free agent after this year and has the best value
Kubel is a free agent
Young has very low value

The Twins have told teams they are going for it - however - Slowey to the Pirates still might happen.DJH wrote:Twins aren't going to trade anyone.

Twins vs Indians doubleheader today in Twinkie Town.
Meeting my daughter for dinner tonight in Uptown, hope I miss the game traffic both ways.

Re: Unofficial A.L. Central Thread
A nice win by the Twins last night helped the Tigers back into a tie for first.
Tigers have a pitcher named Duane Below making his major league debut against the A's tonight. Never heard of him. They also called up Furbush again from Toledo. Maybe they'll just rotate rookies for the fifth starting spot in the second half.

Detroit is up 3-0 in the middle of the 5th at Target Field with Verlander on the mound. See if he can finish this one off.

JOE MAUER ALERT FOR AZ:
Mauer hitting .468 in his last 14 games. (.308 on the season) All while playing at a very high level at two different positions.
Meanwhile in Pittsburgh, Lyle Overbay (the great bambino) is batting .183 in that same time frame, (.236 on the year) and is literally being booed off the field at home.

Good start for the Tigers last night on an important seven game road trip. Three more in Minnesota, followed by three in Chicago.
Big weekend overall for the Central, with the four contenders playing each other.

Speaking only for myself - as a Twins fan, I wrote off last nights game before it started... Verlander is the clear Cy Young this year - when playing the Tigers you've gotta hope you miss his turn in the rotation...AshevilleApp wrote:Good start for the Tigers last night on an important seven game road trip. I sometimes wish they would go to a four man rotation.

He would probably like that too. One of the few pitchers that regularily goes over the 100 pitch count.AshevilleApp wrote:TwinTownBisonFan wrote:

True - he's a throwback - with a manager willing to embrace it as well.Gil Dobie wrote:He would probably like that too. One of the few pitchers that regularily goes over the 100 pitch count.AshevilleApp wrote:
