Owners ratify CBA
NFL owners voted Thursday night in Atlanta to ratify a 10-year collective bargaining agreement, the first step in ending the four-month-old lockout, the longest work stoppage in NFL history.
The final vote was 31-0, with the Oakland Raiders abstaining, a source inside the room told NFL Network's Rich Eisen. The focus next will shift to the players, who also must ratify the proposal. They had a conference call scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Thursday.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said after the meeting that team facilities will be opened Saturday and the 2011 league year will start Wednesday under the proposal. Goodell also said the Aug. 7 Hall of Fame Game between the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams has been canceled.

Re: Owners ratify CBA
About fucking time. But there was ZERO chance of them missing games because both sides want that money.

Re: Owners ratify CBA
Players apparently have no intention to vote on this as they say several issues have not been addressed.
Re: Owners ratify CBA
If it's 31-0 there's a pretty good chance the players would be leaving something on the table. They're all greedy bastards, especially that freakin' Brady kid. Good looks, SB rings, bangin' supermodels......oh yeah, and makes a pile of money.UNHWildCats wrote:Players apparently have no intention to vote on this as they say several issues have not been addressed.

And who watches pre-season anything? HOF game, give me a fucking break. I can count on one hand the number of pre-season games I have watched...EVER. I don't give one single fuck about any of those. They don't mean shit.SuperHornet wrote:That depends on how one defines "games."grizzaholic wrote:About fucking time. There's no need to curse, dude. I was just making a point. Most would feel the same way you do. I'm just pointing out that SOME would have a difference of opinion. Like me. I want to see who the backups are going to be. Pre-season games aren't QUITE as bad as the first couple of weeks of American Idol. Besides, in this day and age, people are too scared to play backups (especially quarterbacks) during the regular season for fear they'll screw the pooch. Pre-season (when it's backup-vs.-backup) isn't a true vision of what the 2s and 3s will look like with the 1s. Then, when the star goes down with a busted leg in Week 12, you're screwed.
That, and SD is correct about Vidav's new avatar.

The players aren't going to approve this deal until the remaining issues are addressed in some way.ASUG8 wrote:If it's 31-0 there's a pretty good chance the players would be leaving something on the table. And how is Brady greedy? He has constantly taken less than market money and has reworked his deal down a couple times for the betterment of the Patriots... and oh ya,,, he put his name on the line in a lawsuit against the NFL that helped the players association decertify.... not many players were willing to step up to the plate and do that.

Easy now, I was being somewhat facetious since he's got the world by the balls. Your boy doubled his salary and got a $16 million signing bonus in September, but fortunately he's not greedy.UNHWildCats wrote:The players aren't going to approve this deal until the remaining issues are addressed in some way.ASUG8 wrote:

Re: Owners ratify CBA
Remaining issues being what? Seems like the players are all up in arms about something they have no idea what they are up in arms about. Sure the owners have put the onus on the players now with the vote last night so now the players need to vote or say why they don't like the deal. And now the talk of not certifying a union again would seem to be a pretty big game changer from the players side. It's starting to seem like it's more posturing by Demaurice Smith to look like he can declare victory and that he beat the owners than something really substantive.UNHWildCats wrote:The players aren't going to approve this deal until the remaining issues are addressed in some way.ASUG8 wrote:
