You'll love this JBB.
"The September 3, 2011 game vs. Lafayette will be available live to about 31 million people in the northeast as well - over the air, via satellite and via cable. This will be of interest to folks who read the very complimentary article about NDSU in the Wall Street Journal."
Lafayette has a very solid tv contract which gives them exposure from DC to Western CT.

The regional sports broadcasting powerhouse KFAN turned its eyes toward The NDSU BISON and this game. Here are on-air interviews with DJ McNorton and Brock Jensen the BISON QB.

Thanks for the information Go LehighTU Owl. Maybe that will help with a few of the "talking points"? Some of these guys dont catch on "none-too-quick"!
Like I said earlier in the thread: the Buzz is growing, and this is just more fuel on the fire. Now Lakes is even saying he is going to get drunk in the lot!

You never stop talking about this, JaBBer. What's so big about it? We've been beating them for years.JBB[/i][/b]B wrote:Thats a poor spin houndawg, but your motives are questioned, it might not be a clear headed opinion? Clearly an FCS program fully playoff eligible is a scheduling decision beyond reproach except by the most extreme cynics?
The Lafayette schedule sees them playing Stony Brook, a ranked top 15 team by Phil Steele. They also play Lehigh, another squad getting some early ranking respect with that big win in the playoffs last year @ UNI. A loss that didnt seem to hurt UNI but the win sure helped Lehigh. We welcome the Leopards, a fully playoff eligible FCS squad.
The way that you whimper incessantly about beating UNI you'd think you'd never accomplished the feat before. Oh, wait.......
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

Re: NDSU NEXT GAME:Lafayette Leopards @ NDSU BISON Preview A
All I have ever said about UNI was the fact they lost at home to Lehigh in the first round of the playoffs last year. Using the Lehigh/Lafayette game as a "paired comparison" you can easily support the position that Lafayette will come in at the UNI level of play.
I can agree to this houndawg, UNI would be at the top end and SIU at the low end. Lafayette should come in somewhere between those two extremes. On a good day they will play to the high end for sure.

Listen Jaded Bison Bitch, I've tried to medicate your ignorance with some easy to understand facts for you, but you're just not getting it. Perhaps the S in NDSU stands for Special Needs?JBB wrote:Potty mouth is back
Listen squawker, you dont have anything going for yourself. With your bluster, juvenile name calling and profanities you have failed to resolve the following issues:
1) Lafayette is a game of national importance. A "spotlight game", we like to say.
2) Officiating is expected to be top-notched!
3) NDSU is an elite program as the elite program registry clearly indicates. It is one of the largest programs in the FCS. An FBS program in FCS clothing so-to-speak.
4) EWU is an interesting program with a distinct "rural character" to it. They are a curiosity because of the national championship and not a big draw.
5) NDSU Football is among the nations top 10%
6) NDSU is the team to beat in the MVFC. Lafayette will be a good test and a good indicator of what UNI will look like.
This is the only issue you have settled squawker:
1) squawker has no class and is a black eye to the little red engine that could.
1. This is not a big game. Not a single national publication has made mention of it at all, let alone as one of any significance. The only media outlets that are promoting this game are NDSU/local North Dakota news and Lafayette and the Networks they are under contract with. Hell, it won't even be on TV regionally in ND.
2. Officiating is impossible to predict, and it won't come close to having an affect on the game good or bad due to how poor Lafayette is as a football team compared to mid-tier teams like NDSU.
3. There is no such thing as an elite program registry. You are a retarded child making things up.
4. Eastern Washington is an elite program, evidenced by our 5 playoff appearances in the last 7 years, being ranked in the top 25 at some point every year since 2004, and of course our National Championship. NDSU will strive to follow the EWU Model.
5. NDSU is only ranked in the top 10% of the nation for attendance. There's nothing else to do in North Dakota except Football, Farming, and Suicide.
6. UNI, the 2010 MVFC Champions, are the team to beat. Especially considering NDSU hasn't beaten them since the bi-sons joined FCS.

Thanks to Puffy from BV for putting this out there.
Some highlights I picked up from the interview:
DJ & Brock wrote:Looking forward to the opener against Lafayette. Most important game right now.
Worst place to play - SDSU long walk "4 miles"!
Best place to play - Illinois
UNI-dont like it loud crazy,YSU - good place to play, stadium is like a palace.Announcer: sideline close, dangerous, field too close to walls, ledge too low
#1 goal win
#2 conference title
#3 National Championship
TCF stadium will be big, fun, but we have 2 games to play before that.
As far as the schedule lets play. Badgers would be nice but it wont happen. Any FBS team lets play.

I got this in the e-mail from a friend of mine. Great Pictures he says are straight from the Football Complex on the Campus of North Dakota State University:
BISON "ham it up" for the cameras (This one looks a little funny because it was actually taken on film)
A look across one of the practice fields
Some activity on old Dacotah Field. West end of north stands visible
Another shot from "the field" with the Fargo Skyline in the background
"The Herd" are up for early morning workouts
Just starting to get things organized. We start "lining-up" tomorrow
A view of the Conglomerates External Facilities located near Central North Dakota (taken from security web cam feed. View looks NW across airfield conning tower is in foreground to right).

Re: NDSU NEXT GAME:Lafayette Leopards @ NDSU BISON Preview A
This thread is a complete clusterfuck of stupidity. The amount of inaccurate facts and mis-conceptions are startling.
1- Lafayette is NOT non-scholarship. We offer need based athletic aid, and offer around 50 scholarship equivalencies to football players a year. That is 50 full or partial need based scholarships per year-- NOT non-scholarship.
2- Lafayette fans are intrigued by the game, but is is not a big game for us either. Our big games are Lehigh, Colgate, Penn and Harvard. We played many "full" scholarship teams recently. Richmond, Liberty, SBU as well as Delaware, App State, and UMASS in the playoffs. In 2005 we beat a Richmond team who were co-champs of the A-10. We have a healthy respect for NDSU, but in no way are we in awe or scared by NDSU.
3- Lafayette has a football tradition matched by very few. We have been playing college football since before North Dakota was a state! In 1889, when North Dakota entered the union, Lafayette played a full football schedule featuring Penn State, Rutgers, Lehigh, and Penn. We beat Penn State that year 26-0
4- We are coming off a difficult year, but the better teams of the PL are solid FCS teams. We only won two games last year, but one was full scholarship Stoney Brook. We can compete with and beat full scholarship FCS teams, even in a down year.
Instead of rational discussion about an interesting but not big game, we have a bunch of insults hurled our way by a bunch of uninformed posters who don't know squat about school or the football team.

Frank, all the history is well and good. Hell, the Grizzlies used to play (and beat) the teams that now make up the Pac-12. Doesn't make us ready for the BCS title game now, does it? You can beat your chest all you want, but it's still THE PATRIOT LEAGUE. Your team went 2-9 last year, and lost to every decent team they played in 2009 and 2008. Your last "good" win was in 2007 against Holy Cross (and also Lehigh that year). What was the last Patriot League playoff win before Lehigh's victory over UNI last year?Franks Tanks wrote:This thread is a complete clusterfuck of stupidity. I'm sorry, but if you don't get rolled by 24 then IMHO NDSU has some serious issues they will have to address very quickly to stay relevant in the MVFC.

Ancient History doesn' mean much, but recent history does.
Last year a Patriot League team beat a MVC team in the playoffs. In 2008 Lafayette beat number 14 Liberty in Lynchburg. In 2005 Lafayette was tied with eventual champs App State 20-20 heading into the 4th quarter. I understand last year's Leopards were not very good, but Lafayette has a history of playing well against ranked team.
NDUS has more talent, and they are certainly the favorite, but to say staying within 24 shows NDSU is weak is just not accurate. We are not St. Francis. I expect Lafayette to give the Bison a good game and stay within 24 points. Our chances of winning may be slim, but we will not be overwhelmed by NDSU.

Right- we Patriot league fans understand who we are. We are among the worst conferences in FCS, but we have several teams that are competitive FCS squads. At times our better teams can win a game in the playoffs, or knock off a team from a power conference.griz8791 wrote:A big part of the twisted sickness of this thread is the way it lures people into ripping on the Patriot League just for the sake of arguing with JBB.
NDSU is a bit of a reach game for us, but we welcome the challenge of a top team. If we play like we did at times last year it will be a rough day, but I think our team is much improved and will make a worthy opponent. This is not a case of two teams that don't belong on the same field like Montana and Ft. Lewis.

You may not feel this is a big game for you but that is out of your hands. Coming in to the #10 ranked team in the country and favorite to win the MVFC with 19,000 fans in the stands, television, radio and interest from acress the country, you got a big game wheather you like it or not. The stakes might not be high but otherwise you are in the eye of the nation, playing a spotlight game.

You may not feel this is a big game for you but that is out of your hands. Coming in to the #10 ranked team in the country (UNTRUE) and favorite to win the MVFC (UNTRUE) with 19,000 fans in the stands, television, radio and interest from acress the country (UNTRUE), you got a big game wheather you like it or not. The stakes might not be high but otherwise you are in the eye of the nation (UNTRUE), playing a spotlight game (ONLY IN ND).

Thanks for your opinion, but I find it uniformed. In fact the only thing I can agree with you on AzGrisFan is the #10 ranking. I should have said ranked as high as #10 in the national polls.
Other than that your opinion about this game, its impact and meaning to the national scene, its interest among the top programs in the FCS, the elite program register and the entire ballyhoo of opinion you offered up in the face of fact is simply dismissed as reflex on your part.

Leopard fans are certainly excited about the game, but we would trade a win against NDSU for a win against Gate, certainly Lehigh, or some of our Ivy rivals.JBB wrote:Thanks for checking in Franks Tanks.
No doubt, but Lafayette has a history of playing well against teams they shouldn't beat. I am arguing that we will be competitive not victorious, and my points illustate a competive history is such games.

I think thats only normal Franks, same for NDSU. Its not the highest stakes for us either, but its a must win like all of them and its got everything else going for it. Its a big game wheater we like it or not. A spolight game to be sure.
Guys like NDSUFreak dont seem to understand that. Guys like that wont even give the staisfaction o recognizing Lafayetter proud football tradtion.

I read the Last Amateurs and probably enjoyed it more because I had already been reading about your programs on AGS and its predecessor. But for this stupid thread I doubt very much that you would see anyone on here throwing rocks at any of those schools.Franks Tanks wrote:Right- we Patriot league fans understand who we are. NDSU is a bit of a reach game for us, but we welcome the challenge of a top team. If we play like we did at times last year it will be a rough day, but I think our team is much improved and will make a worthy opponent. This is not a case of two teams that don't belong on the same field like Montana and Ft. Lewis.
