Mountain West Bans Boise State From Wearing All Blue Uniform

Mountain West Bans Boise State From Wearing All Blue Uniforms At Home
Image

When Boise State decided to join the Mountain West last year there apparently was an agreement in place that would not allow Boise State to wear all blue uniforms at home on their blue turf. Craig Thompson had concerns from other coaches and simply had this to say: "What we had heard from our coaches is ‘a competitive advantage.' It's as simple as that."

We know that San Diego State's Rocky Long is not a fan of the blue turf and said so three months ago:

WAC coaches complained about Boise's blue jerseys as well, but their complaints centered around not being able to see the numbers on the jerseys because they didn't contrast enough to pick out on film review. However, this rule is only for Boise's conference home games, doesn't include OOC games. Plus, I think TheMTNs cameras would explode if they were trying to follow blue on blue.

The most asinine quote I"ve heard come from BSU over this is "They don't ban green jersey's on grass fields"

Well, the way I understood the original post to this thread was that the MWC wanted to ban the monochromatic effect of a complete blue-out. I could see that. Of course, I'm old-fashioned enough not to like monochrome on ANY field; on a field of the same color as the monochrome unis, distinguishing ANYTHING would be horrendous.

Such a ruling says nothing about the jerseys themselves. The Broncos would merely have to break up the monochrome pattern with blue or red pants. No big deal, really. It just eliminates the "hipness" of going monochrome.

Why would Boise State wear red pants?

OK. Orange. My first thought went there, but I immediately jumped to FL.

My bad.

What I'm saying is that my first thought was blue and orange, which I associated with FL. I wrongly figured that Boise had something else.

Dummy me.

So....you're saying that you don't know what colors Boise State wears because they have the same colors as another school? Even though there is a photo of the uniform showing the color orange in the original post?
