May as well let the Vanimal chuck one at somebody's head when he gets to his pitch count.

I'd just tell the team to run up the score as much a possible. I'd be trying to steal in the 9th, even if it's 9-2.

Yeah, that's the smarter thing to do, avoiding further suspensions and potential injury, but I love watching a good fight!

Side note, the broadcast keeps showing the hoards of gulls lining up around the rim of the stadium waiting for it clear out so they can eat. :D

So, pitcher throws at batter for no reason other than his team has been getting dominated throughout a series. Catcher steps between them and starts trying to tackle people.

Batter gets three-game suspension. Pitcher and catcher get no games suspended.

Nice.

(Yes, I realize the suspension is more about Victorino pushing the umpire back to get at the scrum and that it will quite possibly be reduced on appeal, but still.)

I expected Shane to get a suspension, the Giants catcher deserved one as well. There was no need for his attempted tackle of Polanco.

Yeah, MLB really blew this one - apparently the problem was Victorino shouldn't have gotten hit. Him standing there and allowing to be hit caused all that bad stuff to happen. Trouble maker. On the bright side the Phils are in coast mode and mostly playing dregs so it's not an issue.

I think Shane got suspended because of the way he interacted with the ump, not because took issue with being HBP.

But MLB did blow it, it was pretty obvious the HBP was intentional, the catcher popped up out of his crouch and started bouncing around like he was warming up for a prize fight. He knew the HBP was coming and was just looking for someone to hit. The Giant players even made comments after the game about how Rollins shouldn't have stolen second with a 6 run lead.

I guess MLB is okay wth pitchers intentionallly throwing at hitters.

Not going to go crazy on the suspensions but I'd love to watch the replay with whomever is doling out justice & get some analysis of what they saw or didn't see & why they made the decisions they made. Whiteside clearly showed it was premeditated and then escalated the situation by jumping around like an idiot who is a career backup.

Stutes still bugs me - he started out year like gang busters but has been shaky since before the All-Star Break now. Come October Charlie has to lean heavy on Tony the Bastard & Madson - only two I really trust with the game on the line....

Oh yea, Hunter Pence, I like the way this dude hits!

OK, now for the

IMPORTANT

stuff.

MLB has officially released the Phillies schedule for October!!!!

Game 1 of the NLDS will be held at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday, October 1st. Game 5 (if necessary) would be the 7th.

Game 1 of the NLCS will be held at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday, October 9th. Game 7 (if necessary) would be the 17th - look for a lot of traffic on the 9th - the Eagles have a 1:00pm home game against David Akers & the 49ers.

Game 1 of the World Series will be held at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday, October 19th. Game 7 (if necessary) would be the 27th.

Look for Mayor Nutter to come out for parade plans (yea, that's the title of this thread boys) for the week of October 24th at some time. Get your spot on Broad Street!!!!!!!

Refuse to lose attitude - very nice. All last year or earlier this year you'd think the bats would do nothing...now you're actually surprised/upset in the once, maybe twice a week times the Phillies may lose a game. On pace for 107 wins - NL record is 108....
