"I really liked the intensity," Keeler said.

"The officiating crew was impressed with the speed on defense. It's sometimes nice to hear that from someone else, because, offensively, we think we have a lot of the pieces of the puzzle there. It was nice to see the defense get after it. It's been a long offseason for them."

Future schedules

Delaware's football series with Navy has been extended to 2011, UD athletic director Edgar Johnson announced.

Navy and Delaware meet this season at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., on Oct. 27. They don't play in 2008, when Delaware will visit Maryland, but are scheduled in 2009. Johnson said 2010 and 2011 games have been added. All are at Annapolis.

Delaware also has contracted to play South Dakota State in 2010 and 2011 at home and 2012 at Brookings, S.D. The Jackrabbits moved from NCAA Division II to I-AA in 2004 and are in the Great West Conference but are switching to the Gateway Conference in 2008. The schools have never met.
