Haven't you noticed that it is impossible to carry at UND conversation without a NDSU fan turning it into something else.

taken from a bville quote:

89% of the spirit lake tribe members eligible to vote didn't vote either way.
68% of the 11% who cared enough to vote were supportive of the nickname.
So, in reality, 7% of the tribes members approved the nickname, no?

68% of those that voted, voted yes.

Carry that over into the other 89%, and I'd bet you're still looking at a 60-65% yes vote.

Let me see if I have this right. About 90% of the tribe members thought it is such big issue they did not even bother to vote, and those who did a majority were in favor of UND keeping the nickname, yet the NCAA is forcing UND to change the mascot because they are afraid someone will get offended. So we have a group of people, who are not of Native American ancestry, are driving this issue down the throats of the good people of North Dakota to satisfy their insecurity and self interests. This has gone waaaayyy beyond lunacy. I like what a semi-famous radio personality here in North Carolina is fond of saying. America should seriously consider changing its name to The United States of the Offended.

UND Camels....Wait that's taken.
UND Lumberjacks....Also taken.
UND Phoenix....Also taken.

Admit it....it's hard to get more creative than the FCS.

How about:

Jerseys and other merchandise bearing the Fighting Sioux name and logo are being removed from the NCAA’s online store, and use of the nickname in merchandise descriptions will be removed, an NCAA spokesman said Wednesday.

WRONG!

The tribes initiated this. They have been struggling against UNDs use of the imagery for 50 years. Its UND that has been trying to shove this down their throats. Why do you think this has gone on for so long? The vote they are talking about was not binding and no letter from the Tribe was forthcoming as required by the agreement with the NCAA. The lunacy was all UNDs. They stonewalled the tribes and fought the NCAA, which was responding to internal political pressures from the Native Americans and their allies, to the bitter end without ever bargaining in good faith.

If they hated the name, then they would of voted an voted against it. But they didn't, therefore they don't count in the vote. 68% approved the name, that's all that matters.

You, JBB, the NCAA, and it seems like everyone else from Fargo are the same. STUPID.

I'll give you "didn't give a ****", but not "hated the name". The ones that truely hated the name would of showed up to vote against it. You are just so filled with hate for UND you can not see it. It does not matter now, UND has moved on. So should you.

The vote was not binding. It was unofficial. It was initiated by the REA group and folks on the reservation that did support the use of the name. Unfortunately by that time UND had so offended the councils that their 50 year stance against UNDs use of the name was more solid than ever.

Its very unbecoming but typical of your intolerant behavior.
