From what I saw Renard Williams was able to get a pretty good push against the OG all day long getting into the backfield 2-3 yards consistently. It just didn't affect UW's offense. EWU's offensive line could run the ball if they wanted to, but that's really not an emphasis for how their offense runs. All their backs, Brown, Bronson, and Talley show really good vision and can make the jump cut to get to open space. EWU will get opposing defenses so focused on defending the pass on putting pressure on Mitchell then they slip in the draw and watch the back go to work.
UW had a couple of DT's that stopped that draw before it could really get going, but most FCS teams could get burned with that play.
On defense EWU besides Williams is just a solid group and they have a lot of good depth at DE position. The Johnson Brothers that play at LB as Safety with their speed and experience really make that defense go.
EWU can be beat but the team that does has to have an offense that can throw 30 points on the board, defense that can pressure Mitchell to get him out of his rhythm and a secondary that limits RAC yards.
As far as South Dakota goes, they have a very good coach and since they jumped to the FCS they have gotten better each year in bringing in talent. They had a ton of size in the trenches. Would have been a good addition to the Big Sky.
I think the EWU will win the this game by two scores. I don't see South Dakota being able to get the Eagles out of their comfort zone.
You can keep trying to belittle EWU's play, but we straight up dominated UW despite shooting ourselves in the foot. And we're gonna rock MSU when they come into town. Time to start a new 7 game streak...
You lost chump. Your teams play wasnt up to the task. You gained 31 yds rushing on 17 attempts! If you have to pass all year you are headed straight down the toilet! You had to pass all day. you got what they gave: A lot of yds not many points. What was your pts/yd ratio?
Now you are going to go up against a team that had just as good a game against an FBS opponent as the Eagles and you are on the road, in a dome against a member of the Dakota Big 3. You crow about how the Eagles did, but I dont think you have paid any attention to how the Coyotes played last week.
Ah yes, the all important pts/yds ratio. Right up there with yds/opposing scholarships.
Its a criticle ratio. It exposes teams that flail, like the Eagles on Saturday. All those yards and no points. Thats what happens to one dimensional passing teams. 31 yds rushing on 17 attempts!
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

They did not have as good a game against their FBS opponent. That is a very exaggerated claim. Three point loss and dominating stats compared to a 17 point loss, during which USD was never really in the game. Air Force scored almost all of their points in the first half. Thirteen of USD's 20 points were scored in garbage time. Eastern - UW was tit for tat......it went down to the last 15 seconds of the game. Their starters were in the entire game. They were a team on the ropes. There is no comparison between the two games.
I'm not belittling USD at all, I am sure they have a fine team. But comparing the two home openers and then trying to draw conclusions from them is just silly and futile. I keep telling you people that each game, each season, is its own with its own set of variables, but you still don't seem to get it.

Perhaps we should have scheduled Lafayette instead, and then we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
And while EWU coach Beau Baldwin admits almost everything is in place for a possible letdown, he is confident his veteran team will bring plenty of passion once again on Saturday as it attempts to maintain its No. 1 ranking among Football Championship Subdivision schools and atone for its 30-27 loss to Washington.
“I have no concerns about a letdown, whatsoever,” Baldwin said Wednesday morning, “because we’re sitting at 0-1 right now, and our guys are hungry. I still don’t think a lot of people believed us, or bought into what we were saying – that we were going to go over to Seattle and win that game.
“But that was our mindset. We expected to win, and not getting that win was disappointing. Our guys are mature enough and competitive enough that they don’t like the taste of a loss, no matter who it comes against. And they know it’s going to take a strong week of practice and a great game to get us to 1-1.”
Baldwin suggested that motivating his team for Saturday’s game might have been more difficult if the Eagles had managed to upset Washington.
“Then it might have been an issue,” he explained. “But the challenge of still trying to get that first win is enough to motivate our guys.”
Ill tell you one thing: Im encouraged by the coaches talk. Its big talk to be sure. He is coming off a loss where his team was fortunate enough to pull within 3. Why not talk big?

Your mother should have aborted you.
What do you mean "should have"?
"What I'm saying is: You might have taken care of your wolf problem, but everyone around town is going to think of you as the crazy son of a bitch who bought land mines to get rid of wolves."

We also gained 473 yards on 69 attempts. If we have to (read choose to) pass all day on a team, we will have no problem. You really think the BSC DBs are better than Pac-12 UW? There might be one or two, but overall it's not even close.
Just as good a game!? USD was down 37-7 early in the third before AF pulled their starters. They got the majority of their 20 points in garbage time against backups. It was never close. YOU are the one who didn't pay attention to either. All you're doing is looking at box score states and trying to spin your excuses. Way to go Excuse Maker!!!

What you dont understand is yards dont mean squat if you lose. Pass all you want and come up 3 pts short. You can do that all year. I hope you do. When the field gets short that passing game gets weak.

You're right. EWU has no chance against a charter member of the Dakota Big 3. I wonder if a bet is in order? How about, say, if USD wins I won't post on here for a week, and if EWU wins you do the same?
The thing about the Dakota big 3 is, that you can only defeat them on the scoreboard (that's acutally pretty easy..), because when it comes to physicality aka "knocking the stuffing out of you", the Dakota's are undefeated.
Any wins on the scoreboard are only "circumstantial", as knocking the stuffing out of you is the only thing that matters for the Dakota Big 3.*
*Does not include the prestigious University of North Dakota, who have an illustrious history of beating the fuck out of the Dakota 3. Only "real wins" matter to this great school. The "moral victories" are for the Dakota Big 3 to celebrate.
