Time to dump Tony Romo and Mat McBriar
I've never seen two guys implode so badly at the end of a sure win.
Time to replace BOTH of them with the immortal Danny White....

Re: Time to dump Tony Romo and Mat McBriar
Romo just lived up to his expectation of folding like a lawn chair under pressure. He doesn't run and just throws it away (as he should have), Dallas kicks and makes a 22 yard FG to go up by 10 with under 10 mins left. McBriar deserves no blame. The blocking on that punt let a guy run right up the middle. I hate both Dallas and any NY team, so I guess tonight was a win either way.

No idea what you are talking about but Romo did have a seam. Still a stupid decision by Romo, should have thrown it away and settled for the chip shot FG.

Man, I'm a Giants fan and I know Eli gets a lot criticism but Tony Romo tonight proved he'll never be considered an elite QB...not saying Eli is an elite QB as well.
A costly fumble, and then another costly INT pretty much shows Romo's reputation as just a decent QB. If the Cowboys want to make it to the playoffs and win a super bowl they'd have to do it without Tony Romo.

There were three or four Jets withing 3 yards of him at the time of the punt...what the fuck do you want him to do, teleport?SuperHornet wrote:A good punter watches his protection. Re: Time to dump Tony Romo and Mat McBriar
I was wrong about about many people were around him at the time of his punt....there was one and that too an amazing dive...almost teleport likeSH....the highlight of the punt was on this morning, being that I have a 47in HD tv and a TiVo premier I thought it was a good time to go frame by frame and break it down. I went from the instant the ball hit the McBriar's had until the second it was blocked/kicked (since they happened at the same time and the ball was taken right off his foot). I took photos to illustrate but I will tell you there isn't a punter in history that would have taken off there, or gotten that punt off. The guy who blocked it covered 8 yards in less than a half a step by McBriar by diving....or about 8 or 9 frames (or about 1/4 to 1/5 of a second). I took photos to prove my point.
This first photo is as soon as the ball is caught, as you can see McBriar is already stepping forward and in punting motion....At this point the chance of the punt getting blocked is about 0% based on where people are. The guy who blocked the punt is still behind the LOS.
Okay, the next photo is 25 frames forward....there is an outside rush going upfield but there is a hat on a hat there and is taken care of. The guy who blocked the punt is still at the LOS...about a 2% chance this punt gets blocked.

This is 10 frames after that last photo. McBriar is half way through his punting motion, that guy who blocks the punt is 1 yard past the LOS 7 yards from McBriar and already in his diving motion.

This photo is just 10, or so, frames after that. McBriar is dropping the ball already and the guy who blocked the punt is in a full dive at this point....still 6 yards away.

This last photo, again is just a couple frames later and is the point of impact with the football by both players. As you can see the guy who blocked the punt has dove 6-7 yards in just a split second, and in the matter of a step and a half for McBriar has covered about 10-12 yards....RIGHT UP THE FUCKING MIDDLE. This isn't on McBriar you dumb fuck. This is all on the protection. This guy runs straight through the A gap...ON PUNT PROTECTION!

So...looking at these photos, which are not much more than a blink of the eye apart when played live, tell me how this is on McBriar. Unless Danny White could see the future and take off the instant the ball is snapped and catch it on the run, the same would have happened to him. That was a freak of an athletic play by the defender

But I think what SH is trying to say is that McBriar should have punted the ball AND the guy who blocked his punt. Epic fail on McBriar's part for not training in the offseason properly. i.e., he's a pussy.

Surprised some of you think Romo is a good QB. He will never be a winner. Sorry all.

Re: Time to dump Tony Romo and Mat McBriar
Why all the Romo hate? The guy did everything you could of asked him to do: Get your fantasy team 30+ points while leading the Cowgirls to a loss.
Guy's all good in my book.

Romo has already won as many Superbowl Championships as Danny White, and he is still in the game.
Superhorney, I know you love girly football and girly football players, so I understand your crush on Danny White.
The Cowpies have had two championship quarterbacks in their history, everyone else is just a Hogaboom, White, Longley, Meridith, Romo, or whoever that last chuck 'N' duck dude was before Romo.
Nice thread though, love the subject!

Nice try, Wedgie. The last Cowboy QB to win a Super Bowl was that punk Aikman. White got a ring with the win over the Broncos.Wedgebuster wrote:Romo has already won as many Superbowl Championships as Danny White, and he is still in the game.

Re: Time to dump Tony Romo and Mat McBriar
The fact that the dude came through the bloody A gap is what makes it so much worse for McBriar. Of COURSE the line and the up backs ought to be reamed for that. But coming through the A gap (i.e. RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM), McBriar ought to have seen it, tucked the ball under, and ran for his life. Or at least take a page out of the holder's playbook and call Fire to get somebody out for a pass.
That's all I was saying. If the guy had come from the outside, he'd get a pass.

Re: Time to dump Tony Romo and Mat McBriar
The dude made a 7 or 8 yard dive to get that. There is maybe 2 players in the NFL that could pull that type of shit, and I can promise you that player couldn't time that shit again like that.
I realize you think you are some all star on your 2 hand touch Monday nigh church league but the fact is that without that almost inhuman dive that punt gets off 99 out of 100 times.
Did you actually go through my break down of it. You realize that all 4 of those photos I posted happened in the matter of a half or 3/4 of a second...ish.
No punter, not even that douche that played for Dallas, would have pulled that punt down. Find me one, just one, video of a punt that was blocked due to a guy diving 7 or 8 yards and knee hight like that again and maybe....maybe...I'll lighten my stand.

There was a rookie on that Dallas team that beat Denver many years ago, on the NFL highlights film you can see him making the touchdown saving tackle on Denver's Rick Upchurch on the second half kick-off.
He is also an ex-roomie and team mate of mine. I watched that game closely and Danny White was on the sidelines helping the Gatoraide dude out the whole time.
Romo has won as many Super Bowls as Danny White has, and probably started a lot more games as well.

Ha. You forget White's time at Arizona State and in Memphis.
