Saturday Sept 17th

Eastern Washington- 23
Montana- 31

(Could go either way, EWU needs to establish a running game or this one could get ugly fast)

Minot State- 0
Montana State- 51

(Minot State is about to receive a Montana State Smackdown)

Northern Colorado- 17
Idaho State- 21

(I could see ISU scoring more, Kramer gets first Big Sky win wearing orange)

Northern Arizona- 28
Portland State-31

(Portland State wins on last second FG in a great game)

Sacramento State- 17
Weber State- 24

(Weber's defense makes one more play than the Hornets defense)

Home teams sweep

I think all these games, minus the MSU/Minot game should be fairly close. But I'm staying with the trend through two weeks (conference teams are 1-10 on the road), and picking the home teams.

BTW I never predicted 0-4, i did predict 1-3 with win over CP though

I seem to remember a certain MSU head coach who didn't exactly light it up his first season.
Oh' C'mon You guys finally play one half of decent football (or so you think) and now you are ready to anoint him the second coming. No I didn't see your game (eastern MT doesn't get the CW "cant watch" channel) but from the highlights on the RP show it looks like CP gifted you in unforced turnovers twice in the second half and threw the mo away, cp threw like 15 passes all game, EWU will test your secondary greatly and I believe they may have the edge on this.

So since all you griz homers are throwing EWU under the bus I assume that right now you would pick MSU to win in Cheney next week?

Yeah they definitely have the edge on us. EW only throws the ball 60 plus times a game. We have no idea what were in for. Your just as ignorant on here as you are on egriz.. And CP didnt give us the game in the second half, Our offense was on fire! I'd pick MSU over EW next week..

Should be an interesting opening weekend in the Big Sky. EWU obviously has some things to work on, but interesting that everyone has already written us off after one bad game. Based on last weeks performance I would think Montana would come into this game maybe 10-14 point favorites at home. But I think the chances of playing that poorly again are slim. I think after a week of focusing on fundamentals this could be a close game. I think there is some serious soul searching going on right now in Cheney and I just don't see us coming out that flat again. It certainly won't be these 58-7 blowouts like some have predicted on egriz. I personally feel like we have the personnel on defense to stop that zone read option stuff. Its just going to depend on if we can bring that same mentality brought to Seattle in week 1, although I highly doubt the Griz will be as unprepared as the Huskies were. Should be a fun one.

maybe you guys should have been calling me names last week when I predicted a um win and a SAC loss

viewtopic.php?p=540512#p540512" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

instead you all were calling me names for saying that MSU would win over UCD  saying that they one previous game that we had played held more weight than the current team did.

viewtopic.php?p=539148#p539148" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The only game I missed was the EWU game but and even then I was one of the first ones on the boards questioning EWU's running game, just ask SE174 and Ranger,

To be honest, the South Dakota game made me question EWU quite a bit, but I'm certainly not ready to write them off just yet.

However, their complete lack of a run game, especially since they were still trying to establish the run, makes me wonder if they haven't fallen off a bit. I mean, I and many others have been saying all off season that the Eagles would sorely miss TJ, only to be told there's no way by many Eagle fans.

It sure looked like you missed him this weekend.

I honestly think if both teams play well, it could be a really close game. If Montana's offense is as anemic all game as it was in the first half, EWU could roll. If it's as lights out as it was in the second half, and EWU can't get any run game going again, the Griz could roll.

Both teams could come out flat and have a really low-scoring game.

I don't think the Eagles are done for, but I can't help but get the feeling this isn't the same Eagles team that was so good last year. They've looked horribly one dimensional so far.

Hopefully it will be close, and EWU was just flat last week. I really think it will be a better game than some Griz homers are predicting. :thumb:

Funny thing is, I swear EWU plays us better on the road than they do at home. I am not looking at stats but it sure has hell feels that way.

The only quasi-blowout Griz win I see predicted in this thread is from bpcats. Regardless of what happened last weekend I'd pick us in a close on. It's a home game. End of story.

backups need some playing time early in the season, they only got about 10:00 in the UCD game

Seriously I hate these DII games but they are a cheap buy and bring in a good profit.

The Beavers just recently moved to DII from NAIA....you could seriously not throw a pass this game and win 80-0, hell you might break a hundred if you really wanted to. Your Oline and Dline will totally dominate....your third and fourth stringers will get a lot of work.

I mean, I and many others have been saying all off season that the Eagles would sorely miss TJ, only to be told there's no way by many Eagle fans.

It sure looked like you missed him this weekend.
I've always said that we wouldn't be able to replace Taiwan. No one could. And we are obviously missing him some right now. But I do think the reason we haven't been able to run effectively isn't solely based on the fact that TJ is gone. Right now we are missing our starting Right Guard and Starting right tackle. The guard is out for the season with a blown achilles, although that is the position that we had the vacancy in after last season and it would have been a few different guys rotating in there anyway I would imagine. The bigger loss at this point, though, is RT Will Post, who has been out since before the UW game. He had a pretty dominant season last year and we are really missing him right now. So the right side of the line is really green, I think they have a combined 4 starts between them. I expect things to be mixed up some for the Montana game. I am actually wondering if Baldwin is starting to think about pulling redshirts due to the lack of depth with the injury situation.

What was really perplexing about the difference between the UW and USD games was the fact that their pass-protection was incredible against the Huskies. Our run-blocking was pretty poor in that game, but Mitchell was only touched once. I actually chalked up the lack of run game more to our game plan and the fact that historically, we just haven't run much when playing Pac-12/BCS teams. But to see us come out against an FCS opponent and not be able to run is just disappointing. I gotta think the backs have something to do with it as well, since in the USD game we were playing our 4th string RB towards the 4th quarter, as well as many other starters being pulled due to an apparent lack of effort. Brown has been pretty ineffective, except at times on the draw and catching passes out of the backfield. Bronson had one carry for 5 yards, and I am starting to wonder why we haven't given him the damn ball more. He is 225 pounds and can really drop his shoulders and pound people. Talley, the true Freshman, has been the bright spot.

But it's really hard to get too upset with the backs when they are frickin getting tackled in the backfield half the time. That is on the O-Line. With two preseason Senior all-Americans on the O-Line I really hope they are taking this shit personally because so far it's been pretty shocking.

assuming weber state team has any confidence left after a demoralizing 0-2 start vs 2 fbs teams...i think we can beat sac in our first home game. i would really love to see what wsu is like against an fcs. the administration would like for us to play 6-7 money games but could only fit 2 in this yr. next yr is the 12 game season, look for weber to play 3 fbs.

Yeah, and if you were GSU after how many years away from the playoffs, you could jump right to the top with one semifinal appearance.

When you couldn't run on UW, it was understandable (or at least explainable) since they're a Pac-12 team. When you can't run against USD, your problems go deeper than just "playing poorly".
