<<<<<FOOTBALL INSIGHT>>>>>

MOTIVATION:

Its tough to say how good Montana is. They have had decent competition. The win against Cal poly was workman-like but you dont have to be spectacular like the BISON to beat your opponent. This is a good game to get a measure on the 15-10 spots in the national ranking. These teams have a lot to prove. EWU would appear to be on the way down. A win reverses that trend. Montana is at best a power in decline holding its own right now. A win helps move away from that image, that fate, and add momentum to their rebuilding efforts.

After taking care of Cal Poly, the Griz are looking for revenge against EWU! It's only September and it already feels like a playoff atmosphere! The Eagles always play tough in Missoula, and this game could go down to the wire as it has the last several seasons. Here's to a great game, no injuries, and another Griz win! WGS is gonna be rockin'!

going with my Griz on this one! the score? don't know, don't care as long the Griz score > Eags score.

that said, i was able to stop by and view one of the Eag's mid Fall scrimmages and was very impressed by Mitchell's pocket presence/ability to scramble and get off pass completions. also, their young RBs (Tally/Bronson) looked shifty quick against their own defense. what i saw gave no indication that EWU was going to have problems establishing a running game. confused!

Join the club! The only thing I have been able to surmise is that those injuries on the O-Line have taken their toll. We don't have a lot of depth there and it was an area in recruiting that we had hoped we'd get a couple more players than they did. I think our new starting RG and RT are on a very steep learning curve, as they only have 4 starts combined between them. Hopefully they improve.

UM will no doubt be gearing up to stop BLM and EWU's passing game(perhaps to much). EWU's Bronson will have a breakout game at rb and Baldwin will have a master game plan to do just that. The key is not to get to far behind in this one. EWU dug a big hole last week and was forced to go to the air to early and often. A close game w/ EWU getting the bounus bounces for a plus turnover ratio and a 31-21 win.

Montana is gearing up for a big game. They can help themselves in the conference with a win but the shine is off this apple. USD took it off. There isnt much to gain to bolster the weakened national reputation of the Montana football team. this game is regional in nature, maybe just local. Its only relevant to the BSC and neither team is in the spotlight right now for acheivments. Both teams are under a cloud.

That takes away motivation for Montana.

EWU knows they are on a big slide. They have to win or flounder. Nobody can rush as bad as they have and remain any kind of contender. They turn it around or they are headed down.

Funny, it's been selected as the game of the week, on a national board, with 67% of the vote. If only we could participate in games as relevant as unds vs. St. Francis.

Right a vote on the internet board is certainly something I want to hang my hat on!

The game is curious because people love to watch a top dog go down in flames. Outsiders want to see the Eagles crash.

Neither team is relevant right now nationally. EWU is still getting hangover votes. This week is it for them. Big drop coming if they dont take my advice. Not much upside for Montana either. EWUs been rode hard and put away wet.

Thats the story really:
Can EWU Save Themelves?
Beyond that its a conference game and it probably has a lot of bearing on the final outcome in the BSC. I wouldnt be surprised to see both teams out of it at the end, but the conference is pretty weak in the middle and bottom, a few teams can pull the upset but this is a limited field fighting for an auto bid and probably 1 at large, if that. USD could really upset the at large apple cart, especally if SUU plays up to potential.
