Very true, AZ...still, it always seems to be a shootout with the Eags.

Since 1993 the Griz are 14-4 against EWU. Average margin of victory (combined) is almost two touchdowns (13.33 pts). Largest victory margin was in '95 when the Griz hung 63 on them (and won by 56), and the smallest was 1 point in 2007.mlbowl wrote:AZGrizFan wrote:

EWU IS, however, the only team with four victories in Wa/Griz, so there is that....

Re: Big Sky week 3 predictions
In order to match some of these scores, even against a D-II, MSU is going to have to leave the starters in for a LONG time. That begs the question of whether or not the coaches will be willing to do that once they open up a 28-35 point lead early in the second half. Both to avoid injury and to get real-time game action for the backups, I just can't see Ash risking the season just to get 50-70 points....
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: Big Sky week 3 predictions
I agree. I 'm expecting that the first string will only play half the game. The only way I see the score getting as hgh as some of these predictions is if our third string scores at will with conservative play-calling. I think Ash has some second and third stringers that he wants to get some game film on.SuperHornet wrote:In order to match some of these scores, even against a D-II, MSU is going to have to leave the starters in for a LONG time. Convenient how you cut off 1990-1992, years EWU won three straight, two in WA-Griz.

Montana is 25-11-1 all-time versus Eastern, and 17-7 since EWU joined the Big Sky.

Why is there real game discussion on this thread and the actual thread about the game is just filled with a bunch of bullshit?

Re: Big Sky week 3 predictions
So far, so bad. After the first two weeks, what should be easy has got me at 13-4 for the year. How easy? So far the only games played in the conference that have been won by the road team is two (Sac State at Oregon State and Lindenwood at UNC). It is rather tough to win on the road, but this is bordering on insanity. Here are my predictions for this weeks Big Sky conference games. Once again, hoping for perfection.
EWU at UM---The Eagles close call against Washington was offset by their inept performance last week at South Dakota. The Grizzlies came back from their loss at Tennessee to earn a win at home last week against Cal Poly. The Eagles lack of a running game (so far) hurt them in South Dakota. Will it hurt them here?...UM 21, EWU 17.
Minot State at MSU---The Bobcats started off playing the Pac-12 and then the FCS so it is only natural to step down a level. However, playing the likes of Minot State, a transitional DII program from NAIA, may be stepping down quite a level. Minot State has had a hard time scoring against DII competition. What will happen when they enter the Bobcat's den?...MSU 58, Minot State 7.
NAU at PSU---Questions all over this matchup. The Lumberjacks got blown out at Arizona, then blew out their DII opponent. The Vikings have played once and demolished NAIA's Southern Oregon. This game will be a good indication of which one is the better team, but it makes it hard to pick. Usually I come close on the score---at halftime...PSU 31, NAU 28.
UNC at ISU---The Bengals are looking like an FCS team, in that they were blown away by the FBS and then steamrolled the DII. The Bears are looking not at all like an FCS team with a home loss to NAIA's Lindenwood the first week. What is interesting is that one of these teams will be 1-0 in conference at the end of the day. Who will it be for these basement dwellers?...ISU 24, UNC 10.
Sac State at WSU---All the love that the Hornets had the first week with their win over the Pac-12's Oregon State went away with their road loss at Southern Utah. To be a good team in this conference, you need to have consistency. The Wildcats have played 2 FBS teams and really have played good football in 6 out of 8 quarters (the second half of the Utah State game was forgettable). This is interesting...WSU 28, Sac State 27.
I say again this week, take the home team.
EWU at UM---The Eagles close call against Washington was offset by their inept performance last week at South Dakota. Re: Big Sky week 3 predictions
If EWU O-line comes to play.....EWU 24 UM 14, If not, I don't see EWU going to the playoffs without a run game. Plain an simple. You need to have some sort of a run game, and last week against South Dakotah PISSED me off with how "soft" the front five were playing....specifically the right back up tackle...better figure his S*** out against UM!
