A lot of the hate is from the hype.

Dukie V, ESPN constitantly telling us how great Duke is, how great the fans are, how great coach K is.

Then, they get handed a #1 or #2 seed when they should be a #4 to #6 seed, win a game or two against weak competition, and the cycle starts over.

I finally heard an ESPN commentator trash Duke this morning. He called Coach K's recruiting style stupid because he doesn't recruit "one and done" players and ends up with a bunch of "small" athletes who have no power or wingspan. When if you look at how college ball has been dominated the past decade is by "one and done" players taking their team far (Mello, Durant, Beasley,Oden etc). Duke has no game besides shoot the ball. They can't play defense and their point game is awful. Match Duke up against a UConn, Oklahoma, UNC teams with these "one and done" players Coach K won't recruit and Duke will be destroyed.

Duke showed what team they were last night, a shooting team. When they were cold in the first half UNC was up by ten, when they were cold in the second half UNC scored over 100 points. A one dimensional team won't work and is why Duke has sucked. One of the funniest sights is seeing a bunch of face painters, who've been waiting in line for 2 months to go to this game, simultaneously cry.

I agree with you on there game. The rely too much on the 3 ball, but recruiting college kids is what he should do, not recruiting some kid using college as a spring board into the NBA. Duke has built a program that will be around and in its down years is still a top program. Oklahoma and UConn haven't maintained a program that in its dark days is still a good ball team. UNC is another story. Roy Williams is a good coach and he is getting players to stay. One and Done players are no help for a program, only the team that year. I would rather have kids committed to the school and team for four years.

I will agree with that. I don't like the way media hypes up things, above beyond what is deserved.

Yeah, it's not good for the game, but if Duke recruited one of these players every year while still recruiting the other big mouth pansies they wouldn't have to worry about falling off like UConn. I personally think the NBA needs to go to a Baseball or NFL style system where you have to go to college for a certain amount of time or in the case of baseball come out of high school right away. The NBA has to realize their product is being hurt by these kids coming straight out their first year. The talent level in the NBA no longer impresses me like it did in the late 80's early 90's and the league has to recognize that fact.

I like the baseball model - either sign out of HS, or you have to wait another three years.
