Post by dbackjon »

Montero, who recently had an 18-game hitting streak, is having the best all-around year of any catcher in the National League. I don't think there's any doubt.....in fact, I'm not sure there's a catcher in the AL I'd take over him....

Alex Avila for Detroit is having a great year as well - but yes, Montero may be the best catcher in the game this year.

Avila is the best catcher in the AL this year, maybe have the Dbacks and Tigers in series to settle this head-to-head.

I'll trust your judgement on catchers, dback, although I may ask stickybunz for a second opinion. :)

I haven't seen enough him behind the plate to know how well he calls a game, handles pitchers, but the numbers of the pitching staff suggests he must be pretty good.

Accuracy.

It's a push at best, Montero has a marginally better AVG. and a few more RBI's, but McCann is having an average year and leads in HR's, OBP, OPS, SLG., BB, and K's.
