Can someone give me a F'n answer
Why the hell is the US mint wasting more money on a coin that just pisses everybody off??? WTF is this country thinking?
HODGENVILLE, Ky. – The first of four new pennies chronicling Abraham Lincoln's rise from a small Kentucky cabin will be put into circulation Thursday to honor the 16th president's 200th birthday.
The coin's front is unchanged, but the reverse depicts a tiny log cabin, representing the one-room dwelling where Lincoln was born near Hodgenville, Kentucky.

Many have tried to get rid of the penny, but the Zinc lobby has too many friends.
I would welcome it's demise. It costs more to make than it is worth.

Agreed, but the major problem would be sales taxes. people would go ape sh!t if 6% all of a sudden jumps to 10%.grizzaholic wrote:You cannot even buy penny candy anymore. Time to get rid of it.hank scorpio wrote:Some people love that crap!

We don't have sales tax in MT, as you know, so fuck'em. Just make it round to the nearest nickel. It is a nickel people. 5 cents is not the determining factor in making you go broke. Trust me.hank scorpio wrote:Agreed, but the major problem would be sales taxes. people would go ape sh!t if 6% all of a sudden jumps to 10%.grizzaholic wrote:

The way around that is to have set rounding rules.hank scorpio wrote:Agreed, but the major problem would be sales taxes. people would go ape sh!t if 6% all of a sudden jumps to 10%.grizzaholic wrote:

If the purchase price would end in 1, 2, 6 or 7 round down. 3,4 , 8 or 9 round up

And with my rounding rules, the most extra you would pay is 2 cents, offset equally by times you save 2 centsgrizzaholic wrote:We don't have sales tax in MT, as you know, so [*]f**k'em. Perfect. Now, why am I sitting here talking to you when I could be fixing this economy and getting rid of the damn penny and those damn wolves. This argument would have made much more sense for Obama to use in his campaign.dbackjon wrote:And with my rounding rules, the most extra you would pay is 2 cents, offset equally by times you save 2 centsgrizzaholic wrote:

Change we can believe in. Getting rid of the penny.

I also wish the US were penniless. I love the fact that McDonald's decided to forgoe the ridiculous .x9 pricing a couple years back. A breakfast samdwich is 1.80...great, give me back my two dimes and let's not make a big deal out of this. The retarded boy down the block was the only soul I ever knew that was real happy getting pennies and if it comes down to it I'll buy him a chunk of copper tubing to chew on.

Until places make it so all their prices are rounded up. Then they make .02 every sale. Times 1000 sales a day say, 200 bucks a day. Slowly robbing the comsumer.

Untill his competitor doesn't and then this chap has to rethink his robber baron ways. Besides I think dback is only referring to the sales tax angle.wideright82 wrote:dbackjon wrote:

Sales taxes are highly regulated. Merchants do not have the ability to manipulate sales taxes to achieve a competitive advantage. This applies to 99% of merchants. I get to circumvent that system.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:Until his competitor doesn't and then this chap has to rethink his robber baron ways. I apply the law as it is written and undercut my competition all the time.
Re: Can someone give me a F'n answer
Why not leave the sales tax in, but just have it so it hits an even number. No more of this $1.06 for a double cheese at 2 AM for my drunk ass from McDonalds because of the 7% sales take in Iowa. Make it cost 93 or 94 cents, then add the sales tax on that...thus equaling a dollar....you know....like the fucking menu promises.

McDonalds could do that already - just lower the price to cover it

They do that in England, pre-figure the sales tax in and round it.clenz wrote:Why not leave the sales tax in, but just have it so it hits an even number.
