Jesus Christ, what a fucking windbag this guy is. Now I will take pleasure in Delaware destroying these fucktards on Saturday. I was trying to give them some new guy courtesy, but I hope we embarrass them like they deserve.

They can continue to hang their hat on mid-major basketball and field hockey.

Don't forget their area code, first and foremost.

I don't doubt ODU's ability to become a quality football program in the CAA. You do have the resources and facilities to be successful. The talent down in that area is rich and everyone and their brother from out of the area is going to continue to pluck talent from that area. Will ODU get some of it? Sure.

No one is doubting ODU's fast start. They are lightyears ahead of Georgia St. and it is still taking Towson (in their 7th year) to get going. From the looks of it, this is a real down year for the CAA as a whole. Things can change but pretty much a majority of the usual "top teams" were dismantled in their FBS game, and haven't looked great in their OOC schedule. For this, I think ODU will have a nice first year. If it were last year's CAA teams, ODU would probably be staring 1 conference win in the face. In 2011, probably .500 is a realistic goal.

A big part of being in the CAA, as a fan and program, is respecting the other teams and their ability to win big games, whether they are FBS games, OOC, or the playoff domination they've had since 2003. You coming in here pounding your chest about going 20-5 vs teams that any CAA team would have smoked is irrelevant. Your arrogance about how quickly you will dominate teams that have a past and present reputation of being national contenders is what has some people up in arms. I've spoken to quite a few ODU fans on other boards, and they realize the challenge ahead and realize they will win some and they will get humbled here and there. They've been nice to talk to.

   Even more the classic when Towson fans talk smack - good one Andy!

Ramon is the classic ODU smacker this week - beat the chest, trump up the bravado, but he still says they're going to lose & he's gonna talk tough anyway...

Not to go off on a tangent but, sounds like a guy who's world is caving in on him, their premier sport is hoops & what has happened with that? Well in-state rivals GMU & VCU BOTH make the Final 4 in the past few years. Their women's team which used to dominate the CAA but never do much in the postseason has been passed by JMU & UD and just had their coach resign in the offseason.

But then again they can talk about all their National Championships at ODU which I know all of their posters include in their signature in the rough & tumble NCAA sport of...wait for it....wait for it....Sailing.

Sorry to divert attention back to this week: AP, he's #30 if you don't have the money for a program, you'll be seeing a ton of him on Saturday. You can't stop him, you can only hope to keep him under a buck 50. Nihja White, you'll see him too. I could go on but let's just leave it at this, Delaware isn't Jacksonville ( a team that handled ODU), there are weapons everywhere you look. Such is life in the CAA. Hey, I'm glad ODU finally saw the light a few years ago & joined the league. After going to some crappy venues for years, ODU should be a solid contributor down the road. If I was an ODU fan I'd be excited, but some of you guys are jumping way ahead of yourselves. Take yourself back to what you've been posting for months - we'll be happy with winning 2 or 3 CAA games this year. I'll agree that's reasonable - a win this week over maybe the best team in the CAA, which you'll see for yourself on Saturday - a bit of a stretch.

By the way, what season does Sailing even happen in?

And yeah, you are totally right, the 757 doesn't produce any good football players. Nevermind that we are the only game in town and that while tech and UVA will most likely take the top 5% athletes, odu will have more than enough of the very talented "leftovers" to field very competitive teams for years to come.

Hell I look around the college football landscape and see top 757 players all over the place. Phillip sims was the number 1 overall recruit and playing qb for Alabama as a redshirt freshman. Taj Boyd is starting as a sophmore for a ranked Clemson team. Ej Manuel is Florida states starting qb. Last year tyrod Taylor led va tech to a top 10 finish. Those are just some of the qb's, I'd be here all day listing position players. Then you look at some of the all time greats and gamechangers that are from this area.......Lawrence Taylor, Bruce smith, mike vick..I could be here all night.

While obviously odu isn't going to get those huge name guys, if you don't think we will still be pulling a ton of talent out of our own backyard you are nuts.

Like I said, we will see this weekend just exactly how far behind Delaware we are if at all. But if you guys DON'T bury us in our first game ever in the caa (which is on the road at arguably the best team in the caa this year), you will be in big time trouble in the future when we finally settle into the conference.
Who said the 757 didn't produce any good talent? Read better, and more importanly more than the local sports section, boy.

It is funny how things suddenly get a whole lot more challenging when your team actually has to play competitive football on Saturdays, and spend resources and time game planning versus making daily trips to local high school practices. Your coaches are about to figure that out.

I do like how you're already building in excuses though. A couple posts ago, it was:
I don't think we win this one simply because its just not our time yet. With that said, we will absolutely put up points on them and make it competitive. Now it's 'If you don't bury us, you're in big time trouble.' So if we destroy you, it's to be expected, and if we don't the future of UD football is in peril.

ODU has only had football for a little over 2 years and we are already a combined 20-5. Sure, we've played some weak competition thus far but we were also playing with mostly freshman and sophmores on the field. Now that our team has matured and is coming into its own, we will already be fielding a competitive team in the CAA in only our first freaking year.

You'll hate to see where we are in a decade......namely, on top of FCS football (if we haven't already gone FBS due to all the conference realigning by then). Face it......we have the resources, fan support, athletic history and tradition, recruiting pipeline and motivation to be a force in FCS football.

So like I said, talk your smack now while you can, but soon enough we will dominate you in football the way we dominate you in every other relevant sport we play you in. And I said it in 2 different threads because UD fans are apparently so worried about ODU that YOUR FANS needed to talk smack in 2 different threads. Talk about needing to act like you've been there before, good lord.

You and your "smack talk" get a

Wow, my sincere apologies that I support ALL ODU sports instead of one or two. It must be nice that while Delaware gets tremendous amount of support in football there fans talk ^&*$ about their other sports. Must be encouraging to other athletes. I never knew there was something wrong with supporting your alma mater's athletic program as a whole. :ohno:

Anyway can we PLEASE get back to talking about the game itself? Fans of both schools are just embarassing themselves and from this point on I am done talking any smack. :ohno:

I find it hilarious that the newbies think they are the only school in the CAA or FCS that gets talent out of the infamous" 757". You have played exactly one decent program in 3 years and they took you lightly, so it ended up a close game. Ask your coach about getting his ass handed to him in newark, as a player and assistant coach at maine. WELCOME TO THE BIG TIME. HENS 42 NEWBIES 17.

Chuck, when you say Basketball you talking men's or women's, cause I'm trying to remember if UD has EVER won the CAA. If you're talking Men's we just won back-to-back championships and Women's don't even try that one. That is fricking rich. Your team is a one trick pony that will be back to nothing in another year. How many CAAs you won again, Zero, Zip. Boy Razor really ruffled some feathers. UD talking smack about basketball, that is so funny.

Since UD last FCS championship ODU BB has been to the NCAA 12 Times with a Sweet Sixteen appearance and ranked Top-10. We plan on doing this right.

Sure we can get back to the game, in a minute.

The thing that is embarassing and distracting when you look at it - it's your signature. Specifically the part about 32 NC's, 114 All-Americans & 50 Olympians. Did you ever research that & see where those #'s come from? The majority, 80-90% of them come from one heckuva run your field hockey team had in the 90's and from a club sport - sailing. Heck, you're even counting multiple national championships in the same year with sailing, again a club sport, not sponsored by the NCAA. That's like a school saying they won multiple NC's in track because they won multiple events. In all seriousness congrats on the womens hoops NC in 1985, I didn't know ODU won that, impressive. However, if your name on this board is accurate & you graduated ODU in 2011, they won that NC exactly 4-5 years before you were born, which would make that a violation. All-Americans & Olympians? Again, save for Anne Donovan, it's littered with Sailing (club sport) and Field Hockey.

So you want to talk football?

QB - I'd give ODU an edge there, slight one. Donnelly is who I'd expect you'll see on Saturday. Not much of a running threat, really his 3rd game ever vs DeMarco's 3rd year but he is completing 80% of his throws.

RB - Decent edge for UD. AP had 1,600+ last year and hasn't been held under 100 so far this year. When he gets a blow David Hayes comes in - faster than AP & actually has a higher YPC so far. ODU brings a nice "two-headed monster" into the game to quote your local papers but they're not AP.

WR - Even. Both teams have some nice wideouts, Vaughan for ODU & White for UD being the top of the bunch. It seems that both squads have some depth there too.

OL - Big edge for UD. Veteran OL for UD littered with All-CAA & All-American honorees. Big aid for rushing success and keeping any heat off QB. Easily the best ODU will have ever faced.

DL - Even. ODU's DL has created some pressure on lesser opponents, and both teams have not allowed opponents to run the ball, save for Navy that can run on anyone in the country.

LB - Edge to UD. Worrillow is a big-time tackler & can get after it, Harrison is a 4-year starter. Wilkins & Williams are a decent pair too. The CAA is littered with big-time LB's.

DB - Even. Seems to be what both teams would worry most about. UD lost all 4 starters and looked shaky against WCU. ODU lost their best DB to injury earlier this year & looked shaky against Hampton.

ST - Edge to ODU. ODU's punter is All-America candidate. UD isn't shabby but does rugby style so don't look for any/many returns. Kickers seem to be about even

Summation: ODU has been looking to this for 3 years now, welcome to the CAA. You are a welcome addition to the league & I expect to be a good team for years to come. ODU isn't green either, 4 senior starters on both sides of the ball. The Monarchs have been very successful playing their competition from start-up to now. While ODU is shooting for respectability and a few wins this campaign, UD is shooting for a return deep into the FCS playoffs. UD represents the best team that ODU has faced to date since beginning football. AP and Gradkowski, Allard, Nagle & McDowell represent forces on the offensive side of the ball. That's not good news for an ODU defense that routinely has let up gaudy numbers to any respectable competition. Add to it that the game is in Newark where the Hens rarely lose.
