Liberty nose guard Asa Chapman, suspended since Aug. 30 after being charged with two counts of drug possession — one felony, one misdemeanor — has been reinstated to the Flames’ football team, coach Danny Rocco announced Monday.
Chapman was originally scheduled to appear in Lynchburg General District Court for an arraignment hearing on Sept. 12, but that hearing was postponed until Dec. 7. He’ll be on the field Saturday when the Flames face Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.
I didn't want to start another thread on this, which would seem like piling on, but since mcveryl did, I would have said on here what I said on the JMU @ Liberty thread:

Huh That quick. This guy isn't exactly a poster child:

He failed to do so, and the Cavaliers rescinded their scholarship offer. Chapman then accepted a scholarship offer from West Virginia University in January 2007. But an arrest for felony malicious wounding in June of that year resulted in the Mountaineers cutting ties with the defensive lineman.....
....The (Lynchburg) News & Advance reported that Chapman was arrested Friday night after a traffic stop. Police charged him with one count of misdemeanor marijuana possession and one count of felony possession of cocaine. The charges were filed yesterday, and his arraignment hearing in Lynchburg General District Court will be Sept. 12, the newspaper reported......." http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2011 ... 011/648775" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So the charges were dropped I assume? I can't imagine LU would let him back on the team with charges pending.....
Yeah, JMU had their get 4 get arrested & charged with felonies last Dec. One, a would have been 3 year rSr starter at safety, later got a drunk in public and Mickey kicked him off the team. The other 3 had to go 9 months suspended from the team indefinitely until the case wound its way slowly through the justice system, and the charges were eventually dropped about a week & a half ago, and only them were they reinstated.

If you read http://www.flamefans.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; most of us are not happy about this either. I hope the details that are being withheld make a big difference. At this point
The LU powers that be must know a heckuva lot more than what has been released. I can't see a school like LU with their faith-based structure and history letting some thug with a straw even back on campus, much less on the field representing the school.
Chapman have a chance at NFL? Leave the guy alone, a little weed never hurt anything... Legalize the weed, tax the weed... bigger problems in the world IMO

Um...you might've missed the possession of coke charge (not the "a-cola" kind). A felony, by the by...
Amazing. A university founded on Christian principles suspends a guy on charges pending outcome of the trial and then reinstates him when the trial date gets moved.......Why did they suspend him to begin with then? If they suspended him because he was charged, what has changed? He is still charged.
He is innocent until proven otherwise. But I would let him complete his studies but not play , It would or will be mess if he is convicted of a felony while on the active roster. Almost sounds like an NFL approach to discipline.
