Old Dominion's coaching staff must like quarterbacks with the first name Taylor.
Just months after signing Georgia state player of the year Taylor Heinicke, the Monarchs appear to be in the market for Taylor Reynolds, who might end up being the best QB in Delaware.
Reynolds, a 5-foot-11, 179-pounder from Newark High, was at Old Dominion's season-opening win over Campbell three weeks ago. He was there making an unofficial visit. I asked him how close he lives to the University of Delaware.
"Close enough that I can see the stadium from my yard," he said.
Hmm. Over the years, I've learned as a reporter that this is sometimes a little too close for comfort. Reynolds has offers from Delaware, Elon, Bucknell and ODU. It's an impressive list. He's an athletic guy. Quarterback might not be his final destination. It wasn't for Antonio Vaughan, ODU's wide receiver who was the CAA rookie of the week after that game that Reynolds saw.
So ODU has Taylor Heinicke, they apparently want Taylor Reynolds and they also have Tyler Clark. Here's an idea: ODU should recruit Tyler Quigley out of Lake Braddock, that way they could potentially have two Taylors, two Tylers, and a lot of confusion at practice.
But, but, but... I though the only good players came from whatever insignificant area code Norfolk is in, no?
Why would you be recruiting in an armpit like Delaware? Are you saying the 302 is where it's at?
FWIW, we have been turning out a disproportionally high number of D-I talent per capita lately. I think there was a thread about it a few months back.
Too be honest, I'm kinda surprised we're recruiting a QB. We got Nate Ong who will have a year left after Demarco graduates and then we're going to try to use Heienke all four years starting next year. In other words, long term we should be set at QB. However the article did say that he might not be used as a QB similar to Vaughan if he commits to ODU....

PPPPPPSSSSSSSTTTT!
You're in the CAA now, players get hurt. Particularly quarterbacks. Every class needs to have a QB in it.
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Don't be silly. We don't recruit quarterbacks from the 757. We import for that position. Recruiting in the 757 is OK for all other positions though. There, you have our recruiting secret.

We've been recruiting the entire country, including the 757, for decades. We try not to limit ourselves. Seems like we get a ton of Florida and Georgia players.

I've been wondering the same thing especially since I started one over there.
The Smack Forum is reserved for JBB and Lakes threads.

I just learned that a highly regarded user on this site might be makin' a surprise appearance at the game. I guess that rules out Andy, and most of the Delaware fans.

Pols is attending the Griz/Sac St. game.

Does Delaware even have an airport????
Isn't it only about a 6 hour drive? Very doable if you ask me. Drive up early Friday, stay in a hotel over night and then head back right away after the game on Saturday which should be over around 3 pm.

He wants me to PM 93henfan to tell him to expect a surprise, but posting it here makes for a more dramatic effect.

(sorry dude since I know you're reading this )
I am pretty sure I don't want to experience a surprise if you are involved.
Just sayin
