Global Warming = Boston Meltdowns?

Post by bluehenbillk »

Nobody and I mean nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills....how do the Patriots lose a lead like that to the Bills? Brady gets picked 4 times?

And the RedSox?

I heard all buildings in Boston that 3 or more stories high are closed until Thursday of this week.....

And Beckett just threw 3-run homer to Baltimore's Andino, a nine-hole hitter! Orioles up 6-2!

Rays clinging to a two-run lead. Could be all tied up in the AL wildcard in an hour. :D

Very disappointed that Yankee starter Hector Noesi couldn't help the Sox out by holding the two-run lead the Yankees gave him tonight. :coffee:

Yanks throw cold-as-ice Bartolo Colon in Game 2 against the Rays tomorrow. He has given up 11 earned runs in 7 innings over his last two starts. I've been telling the skeptical Sox fans here all year that Colon is a reliable starter. They better hope I'm right. ;)

Way to go O's. Boston is on lockdown this morning - all bridges closed, Charles River lined with police.

I'll take the Rays and the OVER. Colon is toast.

Yale rookie comes through

Rookie Ryan Lavarnway(notes) became the unlikeliest of heroes for Boston, hitting his first two major league homers after being thrust into the lineup because of injuries to catchers Jarrod Saltalamacchia(notes) (sore collarbone) and Jason Varitek(notes) (knee).

Lavarnway, a Yale philosophy major who never played a big league game before August, hit a three-run drive in the fourth inning and added a solo shot for an 8-4 lead in the eighth.

Something's gotta give tonight, Lester 14-0 vs the O's but only ever pitched once on short rest & got destroyed.

Yankees are throwing pitchers in 1 or 2 inning increments tonight so Vegas $$ is on the Rays at this point.

one thing working for Lester on short rest... the Yankees sent him to the showers real early last time out.

okay, so that explains why the Yanks haven't announced a starter yet I guess. Also interesting that Bobby Valentine picked the Yankees to win tonight as well as the Red Sox. I've always thought Bobby likes to stick it to Yankees fans and this just adds to it. I think every Yankees fan wants to see the Red Sox lose tonight and miss the playoffs. Plus I'm sure if the yanks and sox meet in the ALCS he'll pick the Sox.

The Yankees have incentive to win tonight... Which rotation would you rather face in a potential ALCS? Boston or Tampa Bay?

Nothing personal, I'd prefer to see Tampa get in. Honestly the Sox are so beaten up with injuries at this point that, if they hang on, they are an easy out in a potential sweep in the first round. So if the Yankees get the ALCS, they are likely to face a team with its starting pitching lined up perfectly.

This presumes the Yankees survive either the Tigers or Rangers - bear in mind, they don't have the fast-pass through the Twins in DS this year...

I'm well aware that the Yankees have had a great season but face a substantial risk of getting run in the first round. Note I said IF they make the ALCS. The surprise pitching which carried them for a big part of the season has hit the wall.

Any truth to the rumor that the Cask & Flagon will now be Yankees Playoff HQ in Boston??

And what's great about all of this is now the baseball world is spared the agony of a series full of 9-10 hour games played between the Sawks and the Yanks where we are told over and over again that the game isn't going on interminably long because of players taking too long to get back into the box or too long to throw a pitch, but because both teams are so good at working the count. Yeah, shame we don't have to sit through that (although truth be told, I always tended to walk away for an hour or two at a time - I mean, that's only two innings right there).
