I LOVE those helmets. How confident are you in your defense if you have the whole unit wear helmets with the Jolly Roger on them that say "Head Hunters" underneath??weberwildcat wrote:Missouri St 1965-67 uh...

Not even creativity as the problem, that looks like the letterhead for the english dept.ODUalum11 wrote:yeah those are pretty bad. Telling me they couldn't get a little bit more creative.Thumper 76 wrote: By far!

Re: Wost FCS Helmet Ever?
This is not FCS but wondering what y'all think about this.
My former high school hired the son of my former legendary coach and he has reinstated the helmet design we wore many moons ago.
It's an all white helmet. If you start on defense (nicknamed the Warlords), you wear a black stripe on each side of the helmet. If you start on offense (nicknamed the Bluechippers), you wear a blue arrow down the middle. If you start on any special team, you wear maroon stripes on each side of the helmet (on a 45 degree angle between the arrow and black stripe). It makes for a great ceremony before each game to get "striped".
If you don't start, you are bareass white. Gives you something to work for.

Not too fond of:
Northern Colorado
Savannah St.
Jacksonville St.
But I think Jackson St. still takes the "wost" helmet ever.

Re: Wost FCS Helmet Ever?
I like the idea, and the designs (not the colors though). Obviously wouldn't work for NCAA teams since it's against the rules, but for high school kids, not bad at all.CAA Flagship wrote:This is not FCS but wondering what y'all think about this.

Georgia Tech did something similar in the mid 80's with their "Black Watch" defense.
Tech's 1984–1985 teams featured the "Black Watch" defense. The Black Watch defense was created by defensive coordinator Don Lindsey and featured linebackers Ted Roof and Jim Anderson and lineman Pat Swilling. The elite defensive players were awarded black stripes down the center of their helmets and black GT emblems on the side of their helmets
Re: Wost FCS Helmet Ever?
NCAA rules say that each player requires a helmet of same design and color, while the NFHS actually has no standard. High school players on the same squad could theoretically have completely different helmets during a game.

Really, Towson players had to earn their stripes last year. Not sure if that's the case this year though.∞∞∞ wrote:NCAA rules say that each player requires a helmet of same design and color, while the NFHS actually has no standard. Re: Wost FCS Helmet Ever?
Here is a helmet from another Jersey Shore Conference High School. One that they have worn for as long as I can remember.
It is essentially like Michigan, Delaware, and Princeton without the wings.
