Obama and the Politics of Fear....

Post by AZGrizFan »

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123457303244386495.html
President Barack Obama has turned fearmongering into an art form. He has repeatedly raised the specter of another Great Depression. First, he did so to win votes in the November election. He has done so again recently to sway congressional votes for his stimulus package.

In his remarks, every gloomy statistic on the economy becomes a harbinger of doom. As he tells it, today's economy is the worst since the Great Depression. Without his Recovery and Reinvestment Act, he says, the economy will fall back into that abyss and may never recover.

This fearmongering may be good politics, but it is bad history and bad economics.

I read the other day that if you used today's methods for computing unemployment in the 1930s the unemployment rate would have been pushing 40%.

Why is it Obama compares to the Great Depression instead of the 1981-82 recession that is more comparable? Is it fear mongering? Is it because Reagan's TAX CUTS got America working again instead of porkulus?

Because he can't say anything bad about Jimmy Carter.

You mean his twin Jimmy - naive, inexperienced, soon to have inflation at 15%, etc.

To do this would be telling the truth and going against his Marxist, socialist ideals. Obama is not gonna do that. This current financial mess goes back to the peanut farmer's idea of community reinvestment. Barney Frank makes me absolutely want to vomit because God knows how much $$$ he made off Freddie/Fannie, as well as Obama, and their big ideas of loaning to bad credit people is what got us here, but they will NEVER admit it. If ever a turd needed flushing, it is Barney Frank. I could kill him and not flinch an inch over it. Sorry fucker!

Hell, Hillary still thinks she's campaigning...today, boarding her jet in Japan to head to Indonesia, you'd think she just left a campaign stop...I had to look twice to see if they used a stock photo, which CNN didn't...
