This looks pretty good. But suffice it to say that I'm rooting for Mr. Tiger to pull the upset of the Kitties. The EWU game will probably go the other way as they've probably had time for at least some of the injured players to recuperate.

Montana St. 35-24 Portland St. — The Viks aren't as good as their record. The Bobcats are.

Montana 41-21 Idaho St. — ISU has allowed more rushing yards in 2 games than UM has on the season.

EWU 27-23 NAU — Eagles keep their hopes alive one more week.

Sac State 45-21 NoCo — If Fleming is on, this won't be close.

Mvem, I'll grant you when the Vikings are bad they're very very bad. But when thy're good they're also very good. Cavanaugh and McCaffrey both rushed over 200 yards last week - it must count for something. Mind, MSU has a couple runners who can do the same thing. Cavanaugh can also pass - when the OC lets him, which isn't often. It may come down to the passing game, and MSU does look better at that. I'd say we're about even in the kicking game and special teams. MSU probably wins, but it won't be by much.

I don't think PSU is a bad team, just an average one. I picked them to go 5-6 (with 2 non-DI wins), but also had them 3-1 at this point. We all know the Viks can run the ball really well, though I'm not sure the ISU results necessarily prove that (they gave up nearly the same amount on the ground to NAU). I don't agree about Kavanaugh's passing ability, however. He has a rather low 103.7 efficiency rating (with 0 TD passes in 4 games) and the Viks rank second-to-last in the conference as a team in that stat—all that despite the fact opposing defenses have to stack up on the run every down. I also watched him throw a dumb pick that nearly lost the NAU game. To be fair to Kavanaugh, though, PSU's receiving corps is quite thin.

If anyone has the time, energy or expansive attention span to research the last time every Big Sky Conference road team won on the same weekend, then kindly humor me. I'm guessing it is a rare occasion and I have my doubts. PSU, ISU and NAU all have just as much a shot at winning as the visiting opposition. As much as I'd like UNC to start being competitive, I just don't see it in the near future. Sacramento State is the closest to a gimme this weekend.

It happened Week 11 of last year. NoCo beat PSU in Portland, Sac blew out ISU in Pocatello, and Weber edged NAU in Flagstaff (EWU & Montana won non-conference games at home).

Probably in the next 2-3 years. UNC has 4-5 true freshman either starting or seeing significant playing time.

Interesting slate of games in the Big Sky this week. One could argue that the only favorite playing at home is Northern Arizona and that game may be the closest to being a tossup. Surprising especially, given the record of the visitors so far this year in the conference. Currently I am at 25-6 after achieving perfection last week. Now I try to continue on and earn another perfect week. Here are my predictions for the week.

EWU at NAU---The Eagles finally got their first win of the season last week, a strong performance at home against Weber State. The Lumberjacks had a bye week to prepare for this game, but they did shut down Idaho State the previous week. The Eagles are hoping to run the table and make the playoffs, making this season very similar to 2007. With that in mind, how can you bet against them...EWU 34, NAU 32.

UM at ISU---The Grizzlies are coming off a sound victory last week. The thing is that it was at home and it was against Northern Colorado. The Bengals have been competitive in their Big Sky games so far, but had to deal with disappointment last week when the dropped a home game to Portland State. The horns buzzing around in the barn wrecks havoc on Bengals' opponents, but the Grizzlies should have the answers. Should be interesting, though...UM 28, ISU 24.

MSU at PSU---And now, for conference supremacy, we present to you the Bobcats and the (dramatic pause) Vikings. Both have a conference road win and both have only a money game loss on their records. The thing is the Bobcats have beaten Eastern Washington and Sacramento State while the Vikings bested Northern Arizona and Idaho State. Still, the game is in Portland and the Vikings won't be an easy pushover...MSU 31, PSU 28.

Sac State at UNC---For the Hornets, the road has been unkind as they have only beaten Oregon State on the road. This includes last week's loss at Montana State. The Bears, though, are much worse, having won no games, home or away, including last week's game at Montana. This should be easy for the Hornets, but they may want to think of the Bears as more like Colorado. The Hornets seem to play better when playing up a level...Sac State 42, UNC 10.
