RALPH ENGLESTAD got money from a HITLER BIRTHDAY PARTY... (you nor I have a list of the donors to that party, but I would venture to guess that most were of the NAZI regime, or at least favored their plots.)
the $100 million hockey arena has nazi money granted to it, via the sale of hitlers cars, his bday parties, etc.... you cannot ERASE THIS HISTORIC SIOUX MOMENT>.
or we can talk about where Ralph Englestad called these indians Prairie Ni----... remember that in the Fargo Forum??
this is WHY UND PEOPLE ARE WASTES OF LIFE & OXYGEN, because they allow this and even embrace it!
at least DARREL can post this , WHO THE HELL IS WESTERN MONTANA??
Western Montana @ North Dakota

CUE DARRELS REPLY ASAP..... RIGHT AZGRIZZ!!
Do you have a link to this? I can't find the article in the Forum's archives on google. As far as Western Montana...its a NAIA opponent, which you don't care. So don't worry about it. So are people of the US wastes of life and oxygen because they allowed the holocost to happen...and did nothing until 6+ million jews and others were murdered. I don't like that Ralph had these parties and did this stuff it shows bad taste. He has a good side. He gave millions upon millions from the Casinos (yes more than 1), and built a palace in Grand Forks and a little palace in Thief River Falls (his hometown). Doesn't everyone have a dark side they could overcome? He's dead now so you can stop with the Nazi-isms especially since Ralph has NOTHING to do with Sioux football.
Honestly......I think Ralph was pretty f&%*ed up. Yes he built and ice areana for UND.....but look at the cost. The ghost of Ralph and the his areana AND the nickname may cost your school its conferece affiliation. I am damn glad we don't have donors like Ralph at NDSU. He was a twisted f&ck that even in death is holding your University hostage. As a Bison fan....I find that mildly entertaining. As a native North Dakota.....it is an embarassment to the State.
Read this sports writers column about the issue, and then tell me about the postives of Ralph....
The sad thing is....most UND fans just care about hockey and sold their soul down the river because of that. And, who knows what the future of hockey is with the formation of Big 10 hockey, the loss of rivals Wisconsin and Minnesota that will now refuse to play UND because of the nickname.
Ralph's ghost is still casting a huge shadow across UND.....and if you look at it objectively......it isn't good for your school.
A world class facility such as the Engelstad Arena, built with funds given by very successful alumni, would need to go through a myriad of bureaucracy and scrutiny, at both the state and federal level, in order to receive final approval. The fact that it stands renders issues that some allege to be a moot point. However, if one maintains that premise as a skeleton in the closet then so be it.
I would point out, on the issue of skeletons in the closet, that many of our Land Grant colleges had connections to the KKK. Strong political forces wanted to keep the Land Grants free of Blacks, Catholics and Jews. Hopefully we have put those issues to rest.

Navigating a federal bureaucracy to build a builing at a state university? An odd perspective.....unless you count simple stuff like ADA compliace as such. Anyway, I am not to sure the KKK played much of a roll at NDSU, which is a land grant univerity. In fact, I have had several history classes and a class on ND history while at NDSU and I can't recall a KKK presence anywhere in ND. So.... What the hell is your point?

As much as I would like to agree with wyo fargo hosted a national KKK convention at one point I believe. I am unsure if it had anything to do with NDSU but the klan definitly had some presence in ND and probably still does.
That was at the masonic temple in Fargo....not NDSU. Just because there was a meeting in Fargo does not mean that it was a part of NDSU. My assertions about Ralph are recent and there has been much written about his threats to UND regarding the nickname etc.
And.....unlike some folks......I think it would be pretty sad if UND lost the opportunity to be in the Big Sky over this damn nickname mess.
But, I stand corrected on Klan activity in North Dakota. And damnit......I actually ponied up the $4.95 to read the article....pretty interesting stuff. I appreciate the link.

WYO: You sound like a good man and the type of person I would like to share a few cool ones with, talk a little football with while elk hunting or trout fishing. If you should ever need to use the Mayo Clinic, we will treat you right.
So UND had a person with Nazi and NDSU had the KKK. But thats the past, and as shameful as both are, hopefully we can put this behind us. I don't think JBB would've thought his Dakota Big 3 thread would have taken this turn. How about a truce. Oh and Wyobisonman....I do hope this is the end of the nickname situation. They need to get that state law overturned, which happens in just under a month (Nov 7th), then re-start the retirement process. As for a new name..no speed limit on that, they can take their time coming up with a new one. But once we start the retirement process we can get those 3 Big 10 schools(Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin) on the schedule again(UND played the Badgers in basketball, because they announced they were retiring the name). But I think this KKK-Nazi stuff needs to stop on both sides.

It goes both ways Darell, the Klan was probably infiltrated into both universities. Fortunately the state government of the time helped eliminate them. At least you are not denying Ralph's Nazi facination.
The largest Klan following in the state, however, was in the Grand Forks area. The Grand Forks Klan was known as the Ansax Club, whose members were anti-Catholics, Jews, and immigrants and strongly favored the public school system.
Unlike Klan membership in the south, the Ansax Club members consisted mainly of men from the business community. Officials within the organization included: 7 store owners, 3 lawyers, 3 bank officials, 1 doctor, 1 architect, and 1 clergyman. At their highest point of membership the Ansax Club had over 500 members.
Later that fall, Ambrose spoke in front of a large group of Klan members 21 miles east of Grand Forks. Ambrose spoke about his contempt for immigrants who he saw as pushing American citizens out of their homes. Ambrose also mentioned the need of its members to support the Klan and support the public school system, which he saw as the foundation and nurturing of American citizenship. He also stressed that each member should reach their goals by peace, not through violence.
Around the same time as the meeting, the Grand Forks Klan applied to the North Dakota Secretary of State office for incorporation as a fraternal society. Along with the application was a charter granted by the Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, but due to insufficient funds the application did not go through and the Klan was never officially chartered.
In a 1924 school board election, two Klan supported candidates, Leslie Stinson and E.A. Arhart, won election over two candidates Ambrose deemed to be "unamericanized." The Ansax club was at its most influential during this time but by the end of the 1920s membership began to decline. With the indictment of Indiana's governor and mayor, both Klan supporters, officials began cracking down on Klan organizations throughout the Midwest. By the end of 1928, Klan activity had essentially ceased in Grand Forks.

Like I said this is an ugly turn in this thread and we should move on.

Rankings.
NDSU
USD
SDSU
UMARY
Easily?? They beat them by 5 at home. UND beat them by 6 on the road. Also UC Davis got beat by a DII team (Humboldt) so are you going to make fun of them now.

Now, continue with your research and discover where the Imperial Seal of the North Dakota KKK Grand Wizard was found. Don't cherry pick. That's not research. Very interesting, however disgusting, history here.

I was ready to follow Darell's lead and drop this, but if you wish to continue......
How can I discover, when I already know. I didn't think I was cherry picking, the article talks about North Dakota, and my point was that the KKK was alive and well all over the state, not just Fargo. Your point sounded like NDSU was the one and only place the KKK was involved. I have a History Major and research history every day of my life. Studied under Dr Bill Reid, whom was very enlightening into looking into all sides of a research project.

I am sure there was KKK at both universities at one point or another. Who knows what happened in the early 20th century. I mean they hung people off of bridges over the Red River. Northernfire...please drop this, and lets get back to the girls in bikinis!!!
The Dakota Big 3 is not about puffing your chest out or fighting Darell. They are not athletic factories. They dont celebrate rivalries with cracked skulls, fights and law suits. The Dakota Big 3, win or lose, have something much better. Its about tradition, competition and conference affiliation.
The Dakota Big 3: NDSU, SDSU and Jr. Member in transition USD.
Its a great tradition going back over 100 years. These are the schools that have seen the value in preserving what has been there from the begining. These are the schools in the Dakota Big 3: NDSU, SDSU and USD.
NDSU, SDSU and USD are affiliated.
They are The Dakota Big 3!!!
What is at stake between the Dakota Big is something outsiders are not part of. The BISON didnt win the Little Brown Jug the last couple times they were at the Gophers. They didnt win the MAC Conference Championship when they beat Central Michigan. They didnt get a win in the Big 12 when they downed Kansas. They did get the Border Marker when they beat the Jackrabbits though.
The NDSU BISON Did win the FCS National Championship Football trophy after 3 sold out playoff games in the insanely popular Fabulous Fargo Dome. Its one of the nations top football venues and has been celebrated in the national press as one of the best home fields in the country.
Its the biggest sports stage in North Dakota. The biggest games in North Dakota are played when the NDSU BISON take the field at the insanely popular Faboulous Fargo Dome. Right now its the crown jewel in the Dakota Big 3 football crown.
By the way, USD is a transition school so any football wins over them are not official Big Dakota 3 wins. They can be scored with all the UND lower division games though.

Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
