Anyway, as for 14, I'm thinking Idahlol is an automatic. It is almost painful trying to watch them make FBS work for them.

Idaho - second to last in FBS attendance - 13,300 average. Only Kent state and EMU are worse.

That average would put them 25th in FCS for attendance

dont you need 15k average to even be FBS? they must not really enforce it since idaho's field house barely holds more than the FBS minimum.

Eastern Michigan is only averaging 3900 this season. But will fudge the numbers (tickets sold or given away) and the NCAA can count that. Attendance is counted by butts in seats or tickets sold...or both. IMO the first one should be the one they count.

North Dakota is a great addition to the Big Sky. Besides, with the limited number of FCS teams in our part of the country most Big Sky schools would end up playing them anyway-whether they were in the league or not.

I don't know what Idaho is going to do. They'll probably just keep firing their coaches until eventually nobody takes that job.

How can you be mad at the MVFC? USD chose to accept that invite. Fullerton never made the invite as a package deal like the MVFC/Summit did with NDSU/SDSU. Now UND is on there own island and the Big Sky is left with the mistake.

This. Without it being a package deal the addition of UND makes no sense. With tighter budgets due to cuts, an increase in travel expenses is no way to deal with a reduction of funds. BTW Hornet football is @ UND in '13, see how quickly we get fucked there.

And don't take this the wrong way, it has nothing to do about UND as an institution as some of the NDSU posters make it out to be. In a time where funds are being cut and programs are already having a tough time making ends meet, this addition just makes the situation worse. I'm willing to bet there are others just as unhappy with this situation as me. WAFJ.

This is all correct. The only problem with adding the Toreros as an associate would be where the other sports go. The most logical thing would be to move everything to the Big West as Sac would like to do. Unfortunately, Dumb-Dumb Dennis has officially closed the Big West to expansion for the foreseeable future.

Their other sports are already somewhere (WCC, MPSF, etc) so that wouldn't change.

There are flights to Grand Forks via Minneapolis via Delta and Las Vegas, Orlando-Sanford, Phoenix-Mesa via Alegiant Air. Fargo has more flights into their airport from Salt Lake, Denver Phoenix, Chicago, Orlando, Vegas, LA, and Minneapolis. Minneapolis is the major hub of the area.

Why is UND a mistake? Would it have been a mistake to have SDSU and NDSU in the Big Sky....remember when UNC joined how pissed the Rabbit and Bison fans were. Travel is the only downfall for the Big Sky..the ONLY downfall. At least UND doesn't have to travel far anymore than in the Great West (Texas, New Jersey). This way its just west of the plains, home to our recruiting area and alumni.

The rumors I've been hearing is that the Big Sky may try to absorb the four remaining teams in the Great Northwest conference (Central Washington, Western Oregon, Humboldt State and Dixie State), provided their facilities are up to DI level and the chances of getting any FBS dropdowns are virtually not there.

Some schools (Montana, MSU, UNC) not that big a deal but UC Davis, Cal Poly, PSU and teams on the western edge of the conference it may become a little spendy. We need one of those super trains like China has that goes 500 mph. You can go across Montana in an hour.

The full schedule BSC schools on the West Coast are hurt the most by Fullerton's decision to accept North Dakota. Poly and davis really don't matter because they are only in for occasional football travel to North Dakota which they currently do in the Great West. The extra expense and travel difficulty for the other sports is the real problem.
Considering it's location North Dakota should be made to subsidize travel like Hawaii does.
