Their job is to get ready for the playoffs. They could have played back ups, like the Yankees did, and the Cards wouldn't have gotten in. Charlie Manuel felt obligated to try and beat Atlanta, even though losing to Atlanta was probably the better move.

...pretty much sums up what I think of the world series this year. Cards won it back in 2006, Rangers in it for 2nd straight year.

I don't know, there's just something about the Rangers that I've grown to hate over the last couple years. I think part of it is that their manager used to be a crack addict.
