I was thinking this was a pretty decent crowd for UNC until I realized that this game was played in Cheney, last week......that said, I think your average for UNC might be off.
That's about what I recall them reporting on the tv when I watched the game last weekend (something around 9,000). I'll bet that's the MSU game attendance at UNC.

Good catches to all.

Yes, I reported the UNC at EWU game for UNC. I also missed the Willamette game for Portland State. I went back and double checked everything. My mistakes ended up making Portland State and Northern Colorado's attendance look a little better than they otherwise would have.

As for the Minot State at Montana State, I used ESPN's numbers for all games and ESPN has 13,507 for that game. I did think it was low compared to the others, but thought, well it is Minot State. You could very well be correct, but I am sticking with ESPN's data right now. It would raise Montana State's average by about 750, but it wouldn't change the overall picture.

With the adjustments, the averages are:

Montana 25,896
Montana State 17,092
Sac State 11,728
Weber State 9,439
Eastern Washington 8,864
Idaho State 7,941
Northern Arizona 7,461
Portland State 6,244
Northern Colorado 4,144

And the full set of games are (ESPN numbers):

Weber State
Sac State 8,362
Idaho State 11,297
Southern Utah 8,657

Eastern Washington
Montana State 10,422
Weber State 7,427
Northern Colorado 8,742

Portland State
Southern Oregon 4,953
Northern Arizona 5,479
Montana State 9,054
Willamete 5,491

Northern Arizona
Fort Lewis 7,108
Idaho State 9,304
Eastern Washington 5,012
Montana 8,421

Sac State
Montana 12,751
Eastern Washgington 10,705

Northern Colorado
Lindenwood 4,393
Weber State 5,692
Sac State 1,189
Montana State 5,301

Idaho State
Western State 8,002
Northern Colorado 6,350
Portland State 8,288
Montana 9,124

Montana
Cal Poly 25,855
Eastern Washington 26,066
Northern Colorado 25,919
Portland State 25,744

Montana State
UC Davis 18,487
Minot State 13,507
Sac State 18,847
Northern Arizona 17,527

How about Snow College, if you want to follow the Sac State UC Davis lead and go with a community college about half way in between?

Nah, it's the attendance figure for The UNC @ EWU game, it's just that he had it listed as being played in Greeley when the game was actually at Roos Field. Same exact figure.

I had it for both EWU and UNC and you are right it was at EWU. I hit it instead of the Montana State at Northern Colorado game on ESPN.

I guess there wouldn't be any desire to have the game be the warm up game that night in Cougar Stadium.

All kidding aside, if WSU and SUU want a neutral site between them, Rio Tinto makes by far the most sense.

There are two high schools in the Beaver area. You might be able to line up one of them.

The attendance for the Minot State game was mis-reported. The 3 should have been a 6 according to MSU, so 16,507 rather than 13,507.
catbooster is correct, the MSU/Minot state game was misreported. The Athletic director made a statement somewhere that it was a typo, and that it was off by 3,000. Keypad error as the 3 is right below the 6. But apparently we're going to have to live with the 13,507 figure, because even the MSU website has the wrong number listed. http://www.msubobcats.com/custompages/f ... nmsu11.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Makes sense. I would think they could fix it as fat-fingering errors happen all the time.

A more curious pattern is that all four game attendances end with a "7". Almost looks made up.

-1 hr from WSU
-3 hrs 45 min from SUU
You don't get 15,000 COMBINED in your own home stadiums...what makes you think it'd draw 15,000 in a neutral site?
SHSU and SFA pulled something like 27,000 fans for there game at Relient this year. SHSU is averaging someting like 8,000 at home and SFA maybe 9,000. These neutral site games have potential to draw a good crowd. SHSU is about an hour from Houston and SFA is probably three.

Ah, you noticed the attendance "7" curiosity. Ancient Chinese secret :D

that is pretty cool. im sure we could fill it once. if it fails then just get rid of it? not much to lose assuming both suu/wsu can still schedule 5 home games.

Its worth a try. I thought the SHSU/SFA would be a failure and in fact the crowd size increase in its second year.

Interesting. The 1 hour and 3 hour distances match the WSU, SUU case pretty well. Has this game been played for several years in Houston now? Did it take a while to build up to the 27,000 numbers?

Back to the 15,000 combined statement. It is true that SUU and WSU don't average 15,000 combined. That is because they are averaging just over 16,000 combined:

Southern Utah
Sac State 6,238
UTSA 8,683
North Dakota 4,987

for an average of 6,636 this year.

With WSU's average of 9,439 this year, combined they are averaging 16,075.

This is the second year the game has been played in Houston. Granted the population here is very large and most of the grads from SHSU live here and many from SFA too. Its their big rivalry game so I guess people were interested. I'd have to look up the actually numbers but both were over 25,000. I heard radio ads for it but that was about all for advertising to the locals that I saw.
