Cards/Rangers Game 5
Carpenter has a chance to solidify his place in Cardinals history. Does he have one more magical outing left in him this year? I sure hope so.

Meh. The only Carpenter in professional sports worth a darn plays for the Fish.

Dumb play by the Cards in the 9th. Strike out (on ball 4) and a caught stealing for a double play. They were down by 2, with Holliday coming up. Now there are 2 outs and none on.

You mean the batter failed to protect the runner? Sounds like a blown hit and run. Was it actually a full-on steal?BlueHen86 wrote:Dumb play by the Cards in the 9th. Rangers win 4-2 and lead the series 3 games to 2. Anybodys series right now.
If there is a game 7 it will be very interesting since I don't think either team have one of their better pitchers on the mound.

1) No need to protect the runner, it was probably ball 4SuperHornet wrote:You mean the batter failed to protect the runner? Sounds like a blown hit and run. 2) Even a hit and run in that situation is not a good idea. Pujols hitting and Craig running, Craig had already been caught stealing earleir in the game.

This has been a great series!
Re: Cards/Rangers Game 5
Cards just looked sloppy on offense. with the aforementioned baserunning snafus, and the fact that they had at least 3-4 innings where they got runners on base and in scoring position with 0 or 1 outs, and yet failed to bring them in.
And of course there is the inevitable bullpen lapse where a reliever gives up the go-ahead runs.

Rangers deserved the win. They executed well. They clearly have the momentum as i'm sure they're hungry for their FIRST EVER Championship. Not a fan of either team, but rooting for the Rangers to get their first.

I know how you feel. The Cards offense reminded me of the Phillies tonight. Lots of baserunners countered by bad baserunning and no big hits.MSUDuo wrote:I no longer feel good

That's one thing the Phillies probably wouldn't have done. Charlie's relievers know their roles. LaRussa doesn't seem to follow a script, and it's worked very well for him, until last night.Grizalltheway wrote:And a faulty bullpen phone.BlueHen86 wrote:

I gotta say, I like the Cardinals and LaRussa even though they knock out the Phils. I don't like Carpenter though, guy seems like a douche. (I wouldn't mind having him on my team.)

1 for 12 with RISP. That's the only story in this game that matters.BlueHen86 wrote:That's one thing the Phillies probably wouldn't have done. Charlie's relievers know their roles. LaRussa doesn't seem to follow a script, and it's worked very well for him, until last night.Grizalltheway wrote:
