2006: Continued to have a big impact on special teams, as he has during his entire career in the Black and Gold ... played in all 15 games, primarily as on special teams ... made a pair of tackles — both in national quarterfinal versus Montana State — and returned three kicks for a total of 29 yards ... in three appearances at quarterback, completed 2-of-4 passes with a touchdown and an interception and rushed 10 times for 62 yards ... excelled in the classroom as a member of ASU’s academic honor roll and one of just four ASU football players to earn academic all-SoCon recognition.

Matt Troxel performed well in spring drills and should see action not only at wide receiver this season, but he may also return kickoffs and punts.

2006: He was slowed by a leg injury. He played in five games and had one catch for nine yards against McNeese State in a FCS first-round playoff game.

2005: He played in 10 contests and was Montana's fourth (tie) leading receiver with 14 receptions.

2004: He was a redshirt at Montana.

High school: He was named first team all-state at running back and defensive back as a junior and senior at Lake City High School...three-year varsity football record was 28-7...named North Idaho's Player of the Year as a junior...Inland Empire League's “Player of the Year” as a senior...a three-time All-North Idaho pick...his junior football squad was 9-3 and the state 4A champion...sophomore team was 11-1 and state runner-up...career-wise he had 5,132 all-purpose yards, 152 catches for 2,036 yards, scored 40 touchdowns, rushed for 1,372 yards, had 1,715 return yards, and 10 interceptions... also lettered in basketball and track...his prep football coach was his dad, Van Troxel, a quarterback at Montana from 1972-75. Van was the head coach at local Hellgate High School.

Personal: His major is history. His parents are Van and Karen Troxel of Coeur d'Alene. Birth date: January 17, 1986. Matt's mom, Karen, is a 1976 graduate of UM. His maternal grandfather, Joe Roberts, was football team captain at UM in 1953. His paternal grandpa, Ed Troxel, is a former head football coach at Idaho. His brother, Chad, played safety at the University of Idaho from 1999-2003.

Career Highs: He had three catches in four different games. He had 32 yards receiving and a long of 25 yards vs. Weber State, 2005.
