Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
I left for the Towson game when it was 20-20, who won? I'm too lazy and drunk to read....
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."
"Yes, well, Towson actually."
Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
ODU won 23-20. Blocked a 51 yard field goal as time expired, but who knows if the JMU kicker would've made it considering the swirling winds (plus he'd missed a shorter one earlier).andy7171 wrote:I left for the Towson game when it was 20-20, who won? I'm too lazy and drunk to read....

Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
JMU lost three offensive linemen, one suffered a concussion, one a broken leg, and another a busted knee. Then we lose D. Scott to shoulder injury. These injuries changed the complexion of the game. JMU was in control or gaining control of the game, but in the second half, injuries to the offense--and offensive production stopped. Sucks because I truly believe JMU would have won this game. With that said congrats to ODU for winning. JMUs season could be done because of those injuries, but hopefully, JMU can pull something together and win out.

Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
injuries are part of the game, ODU today was without 2 starters in their secondary (Cowart and Lewis), 1 starting defensive linemen (Turner), starting QB (Demarco, although I think its been proven our back-up is actually better), starting running back (Crawford). Also I think at one point in the game ODU had three defensive walk-ons on one side of the field. I'm not saying ODU would have or would not have won the game because of the injuries to those JMU starters today but thats not to say ODU hasn't been hit with the injury bug as well.jmufan wrote:JMU lost three offensive linemen, one suffered a concussion, one a broken leg, and another a busted knee. Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
The difference between your injuries and ours were that our injuries happened at key positions and during the game itself. Three starting OL going down, certainly changes things regardless of what one may think. We went from having long sustained drives and scoring to no sustained drives, unable to move the ball, and no scoring in the second half. That is huge.

Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
ODU fans have been told ad nauseam about how tough it would be to compete in the CAA and that our team would be beat up and pushed around. Well the CAA is tough and the Monarchs have taken their share of lumps this season as well. I don't like to see either team's players sustain injury but it happens and you have to have capable, well prepared people to fill those slots. JMU was not prepared to sustain the injuries they suffered. That too happens but the loss then is due not to the injuries but rather to the inability to sustain them.jmufan wrote:The difference between your injuries and ours were that our injuries happened at key positions and during the game itself. ODU came into the game without the benefit of a bye week while JMU's bye was last week. Your guys should have been tanned, rested, and ready.
It would appear ODU is indeed plenty tough enough to compete with the big boys of CAA football.

Odu was missing 2 starting cb's, a starting wr, our top 2 running backs, 2 dl men and an o lineman.
Oh yes and our qb is a true freshman because our starting qb has been injured as well (although that may be a blessing in disguise).
The point is, everyone has injuries. Odu doesn't even have a bye this year! It's the last week of the season. Jmu was coming off their bye week.
Making excuses is lame. That's what everyone told us after we blew the game to Towson.
So please, stop making excuses. Odu made the adjustments we needed to make at halftime and shut you down. Blaming injuries and not giving our defense credit for stepping up is just sour grapes.

Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
Truth is truth, JMUs injuries cost us the game. It changed the complexion of the game. And I do give credit to ODU, they took advantage of our offensive woes in the second half.

Sure, but it's not like JMU was up by 2 touchdowns when these guys got hurt. It was a tight game all the way through.jmufan wrote:Truth is truth, JMUs injuries cost us the game. It changed the complexion of the game.
And JMU is allowed to recruit more than just starters you know. Maybe if you guys hadn't lost your 757 pipeline, you'd have more depth.
Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
Hey, you ODU idiots, they lost 60% of their O-line and their star tailback. That's why you won. I hate JMU and I'm glad they lost, but it's a shame you guys couldn't lose too. Overrated. Can't believe you lost to Towson!

Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
The game was scheduled for noon 29 October 2011. JMU brought their team. ODU brought theirs. At the conclusion of the game the scoreboard indicated that ODU had scored 3 more points meaning that ODU was the winner. There were reasons why ODU won and reasons why JMU lost. But the record book will just indicate the score of the game without asterisks or footnotes. And that's the bottom line, not because I or Stone Cold said so, but because that is just the reality. We all will have to deal with that as best as we can.

Good thing JMU could replace their star TB with a guy 7th in the CAA in rushing.93henfan wrote:Hey, you ODU idiots, they lost 60% of their O-line and their star tailback. That's why you won. ODU has a bunch of "firsts" the last few years. The next one I want is where we beat a good team and that team doesn't make excuses.
And I can't believe we lost to Towson either.
Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
Ahh the 757-while a good recruiting area, there are many other areas that create good recruits. If I'm not mistaken, many on your team are from California, no? You can have the best talent in the world, but that doesn't mean they will make you the better team. Dream teams are prime examples, or at least in the NFL, too many superstars on one team and the whole thing goes down. It often isn't about recruiting the greatest player, many times it is recruiting the right players. How do you think teams that aren't suppose to be good, I.e. Maine and Towson, are suddenly the best teams in the CAA?

Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
Recruiting the right players has been preached by Bobby Wilder for the past five years (two full years before we took the field) and for the last 8 or so by Blaine Taylor.jmufan wrote:Ahh the 757-while a good recruiting area, there are many other areas that create good recruits. Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
What do you think happened to cause those key injuries? Do you suppose an angel of God descended from the heavens to break up the Dukes O line? Tough, clean, physical play on the part of the Monarchs defense caused those injuries.93henfan wrote:Hey, you ODU idiots, they lost 60% of their O-line and their star tailback. That's why you won. As I said earlier, the injuries contributed to JMU's loss, but just as big a contributing factor was JMU's unpreparedness to replace those injured players with adequate substitutes. A fan of a team which has been playing football for well over a century should know that. You must have a rather long history of making excuses for the Hens when they lose.

Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
Hey you Delaware neanderthol, we had something to do with those players leaving the game. We lost 60% of our offense in one game too (making that up, but it has to be close). And according to many JMU fans, the backup tailback is better.93henfan wrote:Hey, you ODU idiots, they lost 60% of their O-line and their star tailback. That's why you won. Re: James Madison at Old Dominion
You know why Delaware fans are on here talking about us? Because their own team is currently irrelevant in the CAA. They won't be making the playoffs and they will be watching first year CAA team ODU in the playoffs.
It hurts them quite a bit. Football is literally all they have at Delaware. Without that, they are nothing, and ODU has already passed them in football in only our first freaking year in the CAA.
