Richmond at Old Dominion
Whenever we face Richmond in any sport, it gets my attention because of the way Richmond pulled out of the CAA for the "greener pastures" of the A-10.

I think all 6 of them are in a canasta tournament down at the Senior Center.CAA Flagship wrote: Where are the Spider fans?
Re: Richmond at Old Dominion
Just another Virginia team to take down on our mission to dominate the FCS landscape in this state. All that's left to beat is UR, NSU, Liberty, and the only VA program to beat us so far.

Re: Richmond at Old Dominion
This one will be interesting to watch.
If the ODU pass defense plays like it did Saturday, this could be a shoot out. Corp will make the passes that Edwards couldn't and Grey and Co. will get open as well as the JMU receivers did. Even at the end of the game when we were playing our backup OLs, Edwards had time to throw and open receivers, so there's some hope for Richmond.
Also, Heinicke played almost perfect football on Saturday, if he makes a mistake or two against UR their offense has the ability to capitalize. The big question mark is the UR D. If Heinicke plays like he did Saturday, they probably can't stop him enough for UR to win.

Re: Richmond at Old Dominion
Richmond has the toughest CAA schedule by virtue of avoiding Villanova and URI. Oddly, the three games against NE teams were all at home though. They have 3 CAA losses by a combined total of 6 points.
Re: Richmond at Old Dominion
Heinicke's played like that for the 4 games he's started. His stats so far are:mcveyrl wrote:This one will be interesting to watch.

101/147 for 1124 yards, 68.7 completion percentage, 12 TDs/1 INT, 158.1 QB efficiency...and 157 rushing yards.
That lone interception was also on a desperation throw in the last play against Towson.

Meh. We will just bring up the memories of the dunkfest we enjoyed at the Siegel Center last year and the CAA Championship win.Rob Iola wrote:It's the gift that keeps on giving - the trick will be working that into ODU-VCU basketball threads down the road...CAA Flagship wrote: I'm warning you Rob.

Of course, ask anyone not wearing ODU apparel about VCU basketball and they have slightly different memories of last year.

Re: Richmond at Old Dominion
okay, back on topic this game against the Spiders truly scares me. We've faced a lot of good QB's so far this season but I believe this is the first team where we face a good QB/WR combo in Corp and Gray. When was the last time Gray has not had a 100-yard recieving game? Maybe it was recently but the impression I'm getting from all the hype is that Gray and 100-yard recieving games is a weekly occurence for him. Add in the fact that ODU's secondary is weak and this could turn into a shootout for ODU to win.
Wilder will have the team ready though (I hope). Earlier today in an interview he said in response to a question about ODU's playoff chances..."7 gets you in the consideration, 8 gets you into the playoffs, 9 gets you into a better situation (bye week and home game?)" In other words, ODU doesn't want to win these next two games, they NEED to win these next two games.

Re: Richmond at Old Dominion
Is Corp even going to play??? He got pretty banged up this weekend and limped off the field in the 3rd quarter and didn't return...

Listening to the CAA Teleconference today, or at least the Richmond segment, it sounded like they expect him to play and bet on him being able to play. However, they said they will wait until later in the week to make a final decision.Col Hogan wrote:Is Corp even going to play???
