McColl-Richardson Field

The result is from a gift of $2.5 million toward the football stadium construction cost.

Hugh McColl was Bank of America CEO until 2001, who was instrumental in relocating the bank's headquarters to Charlotte.

Jerry Richardson is owner of the NFL's Carolina Panthers.

The football center and the stadium itself are still open for naming rights at $2.5 and $5 million respectively.

Looks like some serious earth-moving going on in that first picture. Is the bowl going to be sunken?

As a point of reference, Old Dominion got $1.5 mil for the stadium name and $1.0 mil for the gameday building. Since the historic stadium had the name Foreman Field, I don't think they tried to get money to name the "field". Not sure how they would do it since the venue is now called Foreman Field at SB Ballard Stadium.

Anyway, point is that you are way ahead of Old Dominion at this point, at least as far as facility naming revenue.

The whole initial 15,300 seats will be below grade level.

Those 2 names alone may be worth more than the $2.5 million gift from them. We were playing the guessing game on who the donors were all day yesterday and neither of these two were even jokingly mentioned. There are no two bigger names in this region than Jerry Richardson and Hugh McColl.

yeah, I don't think ODU released naming rights for Foreman Field until at least a couple months before the season started....

Why is Richardson helping Charlotte when he's an alum of Wofford?

Good thing BOA isn't in charge of things or there would be a $5 fee every time you sat down.
