BTW, I think LSU has a tremendous weapon in that Austrailian Rules Football punter. Going into this game he had 15 of 31 punts downed inside the opponents' 20 and I think he was 5 of 6 doing that last night; which would make him 20 of 37. I'm thinking about that because I"m watching a replay and you can see when he punts that he's different. He has tremendous control of the ball. It's not a normal punting motion. He doesn't even extend his leg all the way at times. He kind of leaves his knee bent. I don't know how to describe it other than how I already did: He's controlling the ball. Not just hitting it.
I think teams in general ought to think about looking for guys who have played Autstrialian Rules Football to do their punting.

The Lightning Bolts have had a punter or two from the VFL. They've had tons of success with those players, but I've never understood why they never allowed those guys to dropkick, which VFL guys are VERY adept at.JohnStOnge wrote:BTW, I think LSU has a tremendous weapon in that Austrailian Rules Football punter. SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

That would be a great one, too, but if OSU wins out (and I think they will), there's no way Boise moves ahead of them.grizzaholic wrote:BSU-Stanford.Grizalltheway wrote:

Re: Game of the Century
I have mixed feelings about the outcome because I think Alabama's the best team in the country plus they had an easier path to winning out once this game was over. LSU is very good. Obviously they were good enough to get by what I think is the best team in the country. But, as I said above, they still have to play Arkansas and I think they're more likely to get upset by whoever is in the SEC championship game from the East than Alabama would've been.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:OSU/LSU would be a fun title game to watch...
Too bad Oklahoma got knocked off. But that's a reminder that things that make no sense can happen. Oklahoma goes and loses to a team that lost two consecutive games to Texas A&M an Kansas State before playing the Sooners then got absolutely crushed by Iowa State and Texas in its two games subsequent to playing the Sooners. Texas Tech loses four of its last five games and the ONE game it's won during that stretch was at Oklahoma? Good GRIEF.
Sooner fans must be about as frustrated as frustrated can be. Now Oklahoma's probably going to beat Oklahoma State and Oregon's probably going to beat Stanford and we're going to have to hear the Boise State crap again.

Re: Game of the Century
The way things have worked out I think I'd rather see LSU and Stanford. Stanford's pretty physical. I think Oklahoma State may be a little too soft to take on a team like LSU or Alabama. Actually just as a college football fan I'd have loved to have seen Stanford and Alabama. That would be a great one, too, but if OSU wins out (and I think they will), there's no way Boise moves ahead of them.
This is why is sucks to not have playoffs. I was cringing when that lead ESPN guy was saying stuff like "this is what would be lost with a playoff" about the LSU at Alabama game. That's nonsense. It still would've been a huge game. And playoffs would be so much better because we'd get to see all SORTS of interesting matchups. And the Boise State-o-philes would get to see what Boise State could do too.

My feeling regarding Boise is this: I don't think they are one of the top 2 teams in the country. But they almost always find a way to win no matter who they play, or where they play them. A playoff would resolve the issue once and for all.
If Georgia beats LSU in the SEC champ game it will be very hard to ignore an undefeated Boise.

It would have been lost. Instead of only one meaningful game last weekend, we would have a dozen.JohnStOnge wrote:that lead ESPN guy was saying stuff like "this is what would be lost with a playoff" about the LSU at Alabama game.
