Well FWIW, they were having a pretty decent season...I believe they were leading their division in the Big 10 by 2 games ahead of Ohio State and once preseason national championship contender Wisconsin.grizzaholic wrote:Penn State is probably licking their chops about this. You should read the applicable statute. Paterno complied with the law. It is his judgement and sense of morality that are in question.clenz wrote:It's pretty clear from how fast this has snowballed, people being fired, the grand jury report, etc... some really fucked up shit happened.DSUrocks07 wrote:Been posting this on the "Joe Pa" and the local ESPN Radio station Facebook pages

You sure about that? I know in most states he did not. And, as a senior executive at Penn State, he can't pass the Buck that easily.
If these allegations are true, and JoePa knew about the rape in the locker room, he, along with Sandusky, should spend the rest of their lives in jail.

Paterno told his Athletic Director who is in his position BECAUSE that is what he was there for. If anyone should be joining Sandusky in prison it should be him, not Paterno.dbackjon wrote:CitadelGrad wrote:

My first question would be "WHY THE **** ARE YOU TELLING ME FOR????" Also, you're acting like it was in his house...clenz wrote:I don't give a flying rats ass what his"stature" at the university is....because he is Joe **** Paterno....He has **** Paternoville...if you don't think he has "stature" at the university you are sorely mistaken.DSUrocks07 wrote:

Hands down. McQuery should be in prison. Should of stopped it. He WANTED to get Joe involved...(blackmail)
As for Paterno, if it happened at my job.
I would let my boss know about the situation, tell him to contact the police as well and that I would cooperate with whatever investigation that would occur. He has bosses as well, there's a reason WHY its called chain of command. What is the point of having one then? And we don't know if he DIDN'T contact the police himself either...there was a lot of covering up going on.
Vigilante justice is what people are expecting here. He's an 80 year old man, in all honesty this shit should of been handled back in 1998-99, when it first surfaced with the local prosecutor who didn't pursue the case then possibly committed suicide. It shouldn't of come to all of this. People are acting like Joe Pa was the molestor/rapist and not Sandusky.

The Penn State Locker Room.....hell all of Happy Valley....is Joe's home.
Paterno is just as guilty for every child raped after he didn't turn him into the police as Sandusky himself. Willful ignorance is guilt by association.
If you aren't willing to turn a child molester in....I hope you aren't around children.

"cooperate with whatever investigation that would occur" meaning that i would make myself available as witness for testimony
where does it infer that i would just "leave it at that"???
McQuery should be in jail. He SAW it happen and did NOTHING.
And in your hypothetical situation, if the person who came to me didn't immediately contact the police himself or attempt to stop it from happening they should be in jail as well.

For the record, no way that Paterno survives this. I doubt he makes it to their game against Nebraska.

Then PA has fucked up laws regarding reporting of child abuse.

Amen. Yes we do have some weak child abuse laws here in PA. Up until 2002 it was a summary offense - now it's a 3rd class misdemeanor. The maximum penalty for failure to report child abuse is a $200 fine & 30 days in jail.dbackjon wrote:CitadelGrad wrote:

OK hold onto your seatbelts now. An hour before JoePa's press conference was to start today (where PSU had said they'd only be answering PSU/Nebraska & other football related questions) Spanier (PSU's prez) cancelled the press conference. Early national media tweets are not kind towards PSU.
I've thought JoePa would last through a bowl game, but things may be churning to quickly now in UnHappy Valley - Joe & Spanier may go sooner rather than later.
