Now for whatever reason 95% of FCS fans are programmed to know that 7 D1 wins makes you playoff eligible. If you guys would be oh so kind to provide me proof that the 95% of us are wrong I'd appreciate it.

Thanks and again, you aren't making the playoffs with 6 D1 wins.
So thanks for agreeing with me that there's no rule stating you must have 7 D-I wins. :thumb: I already went over the fact our chances of making the playoffs are next to nil.
I didn't agree with you. I asked for proof that 95% of us are wrong about the 7 win Division 1 requirement.

Hey Rocks, go ahead and make your case of which 7-4 at-large teams should make it. No blanket statements; pull up the schedules and let me know the quality wins that get them in. For instance, their wins over xxx and xxx are better than wins over ODU and Towson, etc. I'm willing to listen. Maybe there are teams out there at 7-4 that have more than two wins over top 10 teams.

It's OK guinzone. You can man up and admit you're wrong. We won't hold it against you. Lots of people think there's a rule about 7 D-I wins being a requirement.

No doubt. The one difference is you stumbled down the stretch. Perhaps not losing since Oct 22 might be a plus to the committee? Dunno.

The won-lost record of a team will be scrutinized to determine a team’s strength of schedule; however, less than seven Division I wins may place a team in jeopardy of not being selected;

I feel you SeattleGriz. There are a few differences this year between the two situations...UD would have won their last 3 games, have two Top 10 wins on their resume, and have an FBS loss. Last Year's Montana squad lost two of their final three games, and had 4 FCS losses.

Over at gohens.net we've come up with a scenario that would put UD in the conversation for an at-large:

Furman loses @ Florida
JMU loses @ UMass
Indiana St loses vs Southern Illinois
Youngstown St loses vs Missouri St. (Their win @ ND St was a killer in my opinion)
Wofford loses @ Chattanooga
UNH loses vs Maine (UNH would still have 7 D1 wins but they'd be 1-2 vs playoff teams and UD would be 2-1)

I think we need 4 of the above 6 to happen to have a shot. And that's assuming Andy Talley doesn't steal Keeler's lunch for the 6th straight time.

Not trying to say Montana was the same as UD is this year, just saying how it sucks to believe your team deserves to be in the playoffs and they don't make it. I honestly feel that Jim O'Day, the UM athletic director and chairman for the playoffs, had to take a really firm stance on Montana last year, as to not show favoritism.

We were capable of winning three of our four losses right up to the end of the games, and those 4 losses were due to 18 turnovers. All this while transitioning to a completely new offensive scheme. Not as if we just sucked all of a sudden.

Oh well, I drowned my sorrows in booze during the playoffs anyways. :D

The burden is on you here. You're claiming that something exists. If I claimed that unicorns existed, the burden would be on me to show you a unicorn, not on you to prove that there aren't any.

If it is a requirement then it must be in a rule book somewhere, in which case all you have to do is cite the book and bylaw number or page number.

I think most UD guys on here know that the Hens aren't getting an at large bid, but don't start making stuff up.

When the polls are released tomorrow, I expect the Eagles will leapfrog my Bobcats & reclaim #1. They should get a 1 or 2 seed by the selection committee

Honestly, if I was the NCAA committee, I'd heavily consider Delaware. Still don't think they're going to be in though, regardless of their two Top 10 wins. That URI loss is haunting.

Not as haunting as having West Chester on the schedule.

If UD is considered, then EWU should be considered before them, since after we beat ISU next week (and assuming UD beats Nova), we'll have 6 DI wins as well, except we played a tougher schedule and are defending champs. :coffee:

I do not see a team with 6 FCS wins considered before any 7 FCS win team no matter how the rule is worded. I also see Central Arkansas getting in before a fifth team from either the CAA or MVC. Also if JMU wins, that would not even make Delaware the fifth CAA team to consider. As of right now, I only see 2 of Illinois St/Indiana St/YSU in the field and these teams should hope to see teams needing a 7th FCS victory to qualify fall short.

Both have an FBS loss
Both would have 6 FCS wins
EWU would have 0 top 10 FCS wins
UD would have 2 top 10 FCS wins
EWU would have 4 FCS losses
UD would have 3 FCS losses

Delaware probably won't get in with 6 D1 wins, EWU won't either

UD's playoff hopes may be on life support, you guys have already been buried. If there are 7-4 teams available (which there will be) there is no way a 6-5 team gets consideration.

If there are enough 7 D-I wins teams available UD is out, the committee made that clear last year with Montana. If there aren't then UD is in the discussion. I think UD's playoff hopes ended when they lost to URI, but there may still be a slim chance.

Towson is like that stray cat that looks so pathetic on your front porch. Despite your well-founded protests, the Mrs. decides to start feeding it, and low and behold, that parasitic, completely dependent vagrant is now breeding.

Expect more Toswson fans to emerge. Should have neutered them in Norfolk, but a converted 4th and 29 has literally allowed that barely viable team to now be a major factor in the playoffs.

If the Hens are left out as expected, I am on the Twoson bandwagon, baby! I'm dropping my Delaware season tickets like a hot potato and standing on the sidelines with Andy at every Townson home game every year until they suck again.

Thanks for the invite(s) Andy. I'm getting fitted for my Townsend gear a week from Monday. :thumb:
