Kennedy goes 1-2-3 in the 2nd...lowers his ERA for the game to 18.00.AZGrizFan wrote:While trying to get to 20 wins tonight, Ian Kennedy has officially removed himself from Cy Young consideration.
5 hits, 4 ER and only 2 outs in the 1st inning so far. He's already thrown 40 pitches, so even if he DOES get out of the 1st, he might only pitch 3 more innings....

Ended up shutting out the Dodgers for 5 1/3 more innings with only two hits, as the Dbacks rallied to win. No Decision for Kennedy, and likely out of race

Re: NL Cy Young Winner?
Kershaw just got thrown out of the game in the top of the 6th against the D-Backs for hitting Gerardo Parra.
This started last night when Dodgers reliever Kuo threw a pitch that essentiall just missed Para's head, and a couple pitches later Parra took him DEEP and stood to admire the HR and then took his time running around the bases. Parra and the catcher had words as he crossed home plate, and Kershaw (from the dugout) was yapping and jawing at Parra saying "you'll find out tomorrow! you'll find out tomorrow!"...warnings were issued to both dugouts LAST NIGHT, but nothing was said (as far as the announcers knew) tonight...
Then, in Parra's first AB tonight, he hit a smoking double off Kershaw (which incidently was the ONLY hit he'd given up prior to being ejected), and only got two pitches from Kershaw in his second AB, getting just missed by the first one and nailed on the elbow by the second one.
Funny shit.....Mattingly got run too...

Halladay throws a complete game shut out yesterday as the Phils clinch the playoffs with a 1-0 win.

Kershaw won #20 and the Cy last night.

Yup, I think Kershaw gets the award too - it'll go Kershaw, Halladay, and then likely Lee then Kennedy. #'s 3 and 4 could be switched, though.dbackjon wrote:Kershaw won #20 and the Cy last night.

Kennedy will get 3rd, minimum. Depending on how the Philly votes go, could be as high as 2.

So L.A. is going to have the Cy Young winner and the MVP winner (Kemp) and finish a distant 3rd.GannonFan wrote:Yup, I think Kershaw gets the award too - it'll go Kershaw, Halladay, and then likely Lee then Kennedy. #'s 3 and 4 could be switched, though.dbackjon wrote:Kershaw won #20 and the Cy last night.

Nah, I don't see any way that he ends up ahead of Halladay. 3rd is the highest he'll go, and that's even a long shot versus Lee. The best thing Kennedy has is the win total - he's way behind in every other stat of importance.dbackjon wrote:GannonFan wrote:

Eh, the truly important hardware is handed out admist champagne near the end of October. These are just fun things to discuss before and after that.AZGrizFan wrote:So L.A. is going to have the Cy Young winner and the MVP winner (Kemp) and finish a distant 3rd.GannonFan wrote:

Of course, Kershaw is only 23.
