UFC 74

Post by Grizo406 »

...is tomorrow night on PPV, and I'll be watching!

Looks like a pretty descent card. In good conscience, I have a tough time betting against Randy, but in this one, I think Gonzaga will be far too strong for him, and he's about 25lbs. heavier than The Natural. I look for this fight to be over early...possibly in the first round, but no later that the second.

Depending on which GSP shows up, I look for him soundly thump Josh Koscheck. This could be the fight of the night.

Other interesting fights on the card are Kendall Grove vs Patrick Cote, David Heath vs Babalu, Frank Mir vs Antoni Hardonk.

I've never cared for Grove, and have always liked Cote, so I'm pulling for him in this one. Heath is tough, but Babalu has been a favorite for a long time, so I'll pick him in this one. Mir definitely needs to win this one to start his climb back up the UFC ladder. A former Champion, he use to be a real bad ass in MMA. I hope he does well.

Some terrific UFC's are coming up!

I got

Randy in 5- as long as its not a standup bout, Randy will take it the distance. Conditioning is key
GSP in 2- Koscheck is a joke. He didn't beat Diego. Neither fighter did anything in that fight, just dancing around.
Grove in 3- too much reach advantage. Grove hasn't lost in the UFC. Cote is horrible if you ask me. He's only won once in his last 5 fights and that was a decision against an inferior Pete Smith
Huerta in 3- Huerta hasn't really fought any. Crane, welcome to the big time.
Stevenson in 2- Joe "Daddy" is very heavy handed

Prelims- I think Mir and Babalu win easily

Babalu will probably be suspended

http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgns

Babalu's antics: In case you're wondering what set off Renato "Babalu" Sobral against David Heath, the two had a near-altercation at Friday's weigh-ins at Mandalay Bay. Sobral gave Heath a intense stare as they posed for photographers after both made weight. Heath barely could conceal a smirk. As the two were leaving Heath made a comment, and Sobral turned around and glared before he walked off the stage.

Sobral battered Heath for the better part of two rounds before winning via submission. But he then held on to the choke until Heath went unconscious. Sobral already has had half his $50,000 payday held up by the Nevada State Athletic Commission pending a hearing. It remains to be seen if UFC president Dana White will impose additional discipline.

"What he did was really bad," White said. "I'm not sure what the commission will do, whether they fine him or suspend him. A lot of guys have a lot of emotion in the weigh-ins. But after you get done fighting, it's over."

Thanks for the update! I haven't seen that fight yet, and I'm sure Babalu is going to pay for his actions.

The only draw back for me was that Joe Rogan seemed to have his head up Koscheck's ass...he kept yammering on, and on about him. Best athlete ever in the UFC, yada, yada, yada.

and then when GSP was kicking his ass, Rogan started talking about how Georges was the greatest athlete in the UFC
