Keep an eye on New Haven. Their only loss is a 3-point loss at William & Mary.

They've also got my former assistant coach and the guy I hope is our future head coach (when Bob Ford retires) in Pete Rossomondo.

He's got a bunch of Bob Ford disciples on the coaching staff as well.

It looks like there is no really dominant team in D-II this year. No Grand Valley State int eh playoffs. That's amazing.

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

I have been. It didn't take New Haven long to become a D-II power again.

I'm firmly of the believe that Rossamondo was the reason. He is a no nonsense old school coach. Staten Island guy who was an offensive lineman at BU in the 80s. He was our Oline coach when I played at Albany and was the O-coordinator soon after before he left to rebuild the New Haven program.

I always thought he would be the best successor for Coach Ford at Albany. I am really hopeful that Albany will be able to get him back before he gets scooped up somewhere else. I have no doubt that he won't be at New Haven that much longer.

The way d2.com draws their bracket whomps. Too confusing.

What happened to Grand Valley and TX A&I?

Just checked Grand Valley's schedule. They're 8-3. While that certainly wouldn't get them bye status in D-II's convoluted playoffs, it SHOULD have been good enough to get them in. I think what cost them is an early 3-game losing streak. The problem with that, though, is that Grand Valley ended the season with a 6-game winning streak which featured several blowouts, including one over Saginaw Valley, which DID get in with a 7-3 record.

What gives?!?

Traditional D-II power TX A&I finished 6-5. Yeah, that's not going to get it done....

Did New Haven drop the program somewhere along the way? I remember playing them my freshman and sophomore years. My HS QB played for them back then.

I see future FCS North Alabama made it again - watch out for UNA , or NAU , whatever they are - they'll make noise when they get to FCS.

New Haven had no football program from 2003-2008. I was also wondering why they started to reinstate football too soon after they dropped it...
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

If you haven't yet checked it out, check out CSU-Pueblo, this was their 4th season in football, the seniors this year mostly started as freshmen four years ago. They finished the season 11-0, ranked #1 in AFCA, and have a top seed and first round bye.

Lining up against two time champs Minnesota Duluth this weekend in Pueblo, in their also brand new stadium.

Looks expandable in to an FCS facility - and Pueblo would seem a good town for FCS (no competing programs in the market)

School used to be known as Southern Colorado, mascot was Indians. Discontinued their program back in the early 80's, and yes there is a FCS school in the market 8-) already, but they too have a track around their field.

What FCS school is in Pueblo?

the only FCS school in Colorado is UNC - and they are way the F up in Greeley - nowhere near there.

It is more rural than you think, it is only a two hour drive between the two and the D-1 recruiting in the area is brutal. I really only think there is room for one FCS down there, too bad the one that is down there doesn't have a clue yet, but they are there.

Google says three hours, and that is driving through Colorado Springs AND Denver...

Colorado only has four DI football schools - CU, CSU, UNC and AFA, which recruits nationally, so really is not an effect on local recruiting.

Except Wyoming and Nebraska also recruit there as well. So far UNC has done shitty in state, and does not have the money to recruit much out of state.

CSU-P will not be making the jump anytime soon.

CSU-P (sounds dirty, lol) still is pretty small - less than half the size of UNC - so yes, they need to grow a lot.
