I hope you’re right with the 2 bid league part, but the conference as a whole has to do a lot better OOC. Neither LU nor SBU did anything noteworthy and we both had our opportunities. You really need both teams to be 9-2 with a couple wins over top 25 teams combined.

In an 11 game season you can't really afford to have 7 wins in a shitty conference and expect to make it...LU only lost 1 conference game but lost 4 of 5 OOC games...SBU went 6-0 in conference but just 2-3 OOC. - what does that tell you about the strength of the conference?

In 2010 you only had 1 team get to 7 wins, and that team was 3-2 OOC...

09:
1 team at 7 D1 wins

08:
1 team over 7 D1 wins
1 team at 7 D1 wins...below .500 OOC

07:
1 team at/over 7 D1 wins...ONLY ONE TEAM OVER .500

Really, if it wasn't for one school being the best team each year (whoever it may be) and getting to over 7 wins none of the schools seem like they would get there...The Big South is one of the worst conferences when it comes to OOC games....that factors into these things. If you can't win outside of your conference during the regular season you won't do it during the post season. There is really zero history of the Big South being a good conference. Beating up on the Big South is like being the tallest midget....just the truth of the situation, no matter how you want to spin it.

SBU lost to BROWN

Liberty - with all the cash you say you have, why are you playing a DII and an FBS school? At least if you are going to play an FBS school, use that cash to bring a counter into Lynchburg.

I've got no problem with the FBS. It gives us the ability to use that in recruiting as well as other positive factors. I agree with you on the D2 as do most of our fans. We don't know why we can't at least play a Pioneer (Campbell, Jacksonville, Davidson, etc.) or a MEAC (Hampton, NCA&T, Sav State) as our 11th game.

Depending on our 11th game for 2012 (no d2), I think most of the FCS world will be pleasantly surprised at its difficulty.

6 conference games
@ Wake Forest
vs Lehigh
vs Norfolk State
The other 2 OOC games haven't been finalized, but I'm hearing great news about 1 of them.

Frankly most of our Liberty folks came into the season finale tentative at best. Most of believed it would be a close game and it was. Stony Brook has elevated their game and we have plateaued. They will be the unquestioned favorite next season and we will do our best to challenge them.

And I absolutely love all of those bagging on us for being in a lousy league like it is by choice. You can take shots at us legitimately for scheduling D2s. But unless somebody else is willing to open their door to let us in, it is hard to blame us for the company we keep.

PS - Congrats to the Griz fans on Saturday's victory. I'm surprised our disappointing loss 2000 miles away has attracted so much of your attention.

I second Sly Fox's narrative. Neither Liberty nor StonyBrook plan to make the Big South a permanent residence. Both programs are on record to advance further up the football food chain.

From a JMU fan wanting to jump in on the conversation, Liberty is simply going through growing pains of building a consistantly competitive program. You guys would be ill served by parting with Rocco. He has a ton of respect in the coaching/football world. In our close contest with you this year, you had a couple of players who decided to act like thugs. Those players set you back in our game. The first on was your player who decided it would be a good idea to toss one of our helments 20 yards down the field. Thug, thug, thug. This took your focus away. Then you get things going again and the another idiot decides it would be a good idea to punch our player on your sidline. Again, thug, thug, thug. I know these young men are barely old enough to be considered anything other than a teenager and teenagers do stupid things. But those little things keep your focus from the field of play. IMO you need to have someone over on your sideline, who's only job is to prevent players from losing their focus. We have our first head coach, Challace McMillin, who has purple blood, and has remained at JMU as a teacher and faculty member after his days of coaching were behind him. He is so well respected. Mickey keeps him on the sideline and allows him to have a lot of one-on-one conversations with individual players. He doesn't have any authority but carries respect up and down the sideline while careful not to interfere with the game. Liberty needs to continue doing what its doing and work hard at not letting others get into your head. That goes for people on these boards who do not have a relationship with Christ and want to fault you because you believe God's word. Some show about the same amount of class as those two LU players did during our game. Just put a check mark by their name that indicates "THUG" and this will remind you that its pointless to have debate with someone of little class.

I also think is disrespectful to mess around with Liberty's christian affiliation... are we kids here or what?

they loss the game on the field. Why put religion in the case?

I'm not religious my self... but for posters here to make comments about it is unnecessary in my opinion. Liberty is a good team, this time they lost against us in our Home. Next year they will come out hard again at Lynchburg and challenge us.

Concerning what the Liberty University fan said about "Praying":
I guess you guys just didn't pray hard enough.

Truthfully I have never seen a team be so consistent at having good seasons and losing the last game or so of the season to get knocked out of the playoffs.

Wow, I guess I should never be surprised by the classlessness of some posters on here. But you guys keep the surprises coming. Just wow.

Kalm - The first quote a call to action for Christians to make their voice heard in the political realm that was spoken on our country's bicentennial day. If that's outrageous from your perspective, I'm not sure what I can say. The second quote was taken from a message stating that God created humans to worship himself and follow his instructions. From God's perspective, if we are not accepting the gift of salvation that he's offering us then we are failing. If you take offense at the "born-again Christian" aspect, I have no problems acknowledging that it is open to interpretation. But the quote was not made to be exclusionary as some are suggesting. The third quote about AIDS was dumb and Falwell repeatedly apologized for it. The final quote listed was from a context that we as Christians are to fully trust God's wisdom & direction. Why do good people die young? We don't have the answers but we are commanded to trust God's judgment. Once again, that is open to interpretation for some but that is the perspective we have based on what we read in Scriptures.

It is interesting that years after the man has passed away, there remains so much bitterness in some on this board. We get it, you disagree with what he had to say. Most of us with ties to Liberty disagreed with him at times. But wouldn't it be therapeutic to move along and let it go? Just saying.

PS - I am not treating 2012 as a rebuilding year for the Flames. I fully expect us to be challenging for the playoffs once again.
